Assessment Activities Reporting Template

2014-2015

Directions: Use this template to document your assessment activities for the year. This template temporarily replaces assessment documentation in the University wide assessment management system pending the acquisition and implementation of the new assessment management system. Answers should provide enough details on your assessment plan and the results gathered throughout the year. The completed template should be ready, reviewed by your supervisor and sent directly to the Office of Institutional Analysis and Effectiveness by June 1, 2015.

Mission Statement / The Office of Institutional Analysis and Effectiveness supports the University’s mission of promoting a strong undergraduate liberal arts education by building competencies in data collection on student, faculty, and staff as well as institutional programs, services and operations. We support institutional analyses, undergraduate research, assessment, and other data-driven improvement strategies aimed at making academic programs and institutional units more effective in fulfilling the mission of the University of Mary Washington.
Unit goals / 1.  To provide in-depth, substantive analysis of selected topics upon request, with data and reports as appropriate in order to assist with the translation of data into usable information
2.  To assist with planning, developing operational plans, and implementing assessment activities that align with college and departmental/unit mission and goals.
3.  To actively support and encourage faculty and staff on high levels of professional training, competence, and expertise on assessment and institutional effectiveness.
4.  To provide accurate and consistent information about the institution to both internal and external sources
5.  To actively identify and utilize best practices in the design, conduct and analysis of institutional and other data that supports university planning, management, operation, evaluation and decision making.

Assessment Methods / Provide details on the assessment methods used for each unit goals assessed during the year. [E.g. For Goal 1, students will complete a survey at the end of the year. The survey will be assessed four qualities of student experiences (see attachment). For Goal 2, attendance and spending on programs will be monitored. For Goals 3, performance will be compared against State recommended standards.]
Success Criteria / Preferred outcomes from the assessment results [E.g. At least 80% of students will be satisfied with their experience.]
Results / Details of the assessment results. [This may include trends, pattern, strengths and weaknesses, and any other observations that support the assessment process. Provide as much details as possible. Also cite and reference any supporting documents.]
