As Part of a Series of Lessons About Plant Parts, I Would Like the Children to Produce

Oak’s topic homework – due in by Thursday 10th Dec

Following our visit to the Roman Baths, I would like you to do some research onRoman buildings. (For the purposes of this homework, walls and roads can count as a building.) You might find out about one particular building in Romee.g. The Colosseumor you might do research on a subject such as Roman roads all over the world. If you have actually visited Rome or a Roman building, use your own observations, experience, photos etc. (Youmight also make a model of a building.)

Your topic shouldhave an introduction and then some interesting written information as well as pictures/maps/diagrams etc. Use headings, subheadings and bullet points. Think about why it was built; how it was used in Roman times/how it is used now? You might be able to find how long it took to build/how much it cost etc.

If you use the Internet to research information, make sure you understand any information you copy from there, and try to include your own comments on what you have found out e.g. do you like it, would you like to visit it, is it ‘clever’ in some way. As part of your topic, I would like you to list any websites, atlases, books etc that you have used. It will be a good sign if you have used several different sources of information.

As you have three weeks to do this, I would expect at least 3 sides of A4 paper, but you may choose whether you handwrite or word process it; you could compile a PowerPoint and email it to the school office. Make sure your topicis named!
