FOOD AND BEVERAGE MANAGER
The Westmoor Club is a developer owned private club founded 5 years ago. Located near downtown Nantucket which is a shuttle flight from Boston or Hyannis with frequent jet service from New York and Washington, DC. The Club serves 420 affluent members who visit the Island predominantly in the spring summer and fall. The Club’s season is Memorial Day through Labor Day during which time the Club is open 7 days and 7 nights per week. The spa and fitness center is open year round.
Gross dollar volume – $5.0 million; annual dues income – $3.2 million; F & B revenues are $800,000with lodging, yachting and sports and spa fees comprising the balance. The Club is located on a 15 acre site offering croquet, grass and Har-Tur tennis, paddle, and squash. The Clubhouse which originally was a summer home of the Vanderbilt family, then a country inn and today the fully renovated, restored Clubhouse which offers lodging, formal and informal and private dining and several outdoor social venues. Additionally, the Club owns and operates two outstanding yachts for member use – Belle, a turn of the century 77’ cabin class yacht, Onawa, a classic 12 meter yacht and Westmoor 1, a 28’ sport fishing twin.
Additionally, the Cluboffers an18,000 Spa and Fitness Center with full cardio, resistance training and group exercise programs. Also in the fitness center are the two squash courts and the Great Room used for social and dining events of up to 150. There are two pool complexes, and adult only pool build last year and the family pool with water features. The Beach Plum which provides informal dining and bar service serves both pools and the Spa and Fitness Center.
The Club’s initiation fee is $275,000 and 2010 dues are $7,000.
The Food and Beverage Director reports to the General Manager and is one of three managers who supervise the daily dining and service operations at the Club including yacht services. The Food and Beverage Manager’s foremost responsibility is to create and support an excellent service culture and deliver excellent service in each of the dining/ social venues. This person must have exceptional interpersonal skills, be an accomplished trainer of service staff and define very high standards both professionally and personally.
Candidates should have a college degree in hospitality management or related field, 3 plus years of hospitality management experience in very forward thinking private Club or high touch, best practice restaurant environments. This role is also responsible for all food and beverage controls and F & B systems. Given the size of the operation and short season, this is a very hands-on position.
The position is seasonal, starting, in late April and ending late September 30. There is a very attractive weekly salary, bonus potential and on site housing. Candidates with a “winter” position are preferred yet the Club is able to provide alternate season employment in the private Club industry for the exceptional candidate.
