Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack Project
Each version of Romeo and Juliet has a soundtrack that was appropriate for the style in which it was filmed. The soundtracks of all movies are created to enhance the action of the film. Songs are chosen based on how they impact the production. Now, it is your turn to create a soundtrack for the play. Here is what you have to do:
1)Choose at least1 song that enhances each act. In the end, you should have at least 5 songs. Don’t just choose a song because you like it! The song must make sense in the scene. Think about it, would a Disturbed song be appropriate during the movie Titanic?
2)In a well-written paragraph (6-8 sentences long) justify why and how that song is appropriate for the action in Romeo and Juliet. Don’t just say “I chose this song because it is an emo song and Romeo is like…emo.” You must really think about the song and how it fits into the scene.
3)In your paragraph, quote specific lyrics and explain how if played during they show they would apply or enhance the production.
4)Burn your soundtrack onto a CD. If you are unable to burn a CD, print out the lyrics for each song.
5)Type your song justification. A sample justification layout is attached.
This is how each justification paragraph should look:
Song #9 Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar
I chose the song Love is a Battlefield by Pat Benetar because Romeo and Juliet had to battle many outside forces in order to be together. The lyric “we are young, heartache to heartache…” relates to the play because Romeo and Juliet are young and they are suffering from the heartache of being unable to be with one another. Romeo and Juliet have decided that they will not let anyone stand in their way and they will do whatever it takes to be together. They are willing to go against their families so that they can love each other for the rest of their lives.
