- Starting Point.
T: When speaking about music events everybody tries to imagine this special beautiful atmosphere, which is typical for the concert. Visiting a concert is always a holiday for me. I like music and if I have spare time I always go to the concert to see my favourite performers. I try to buy tickets in advance and go there in high spirits and with good friends.

Have you ever been to a music festival or would you like to go to a music festival? What sort of concerts do you like to go to?
Read the article and match these titles with each paragraph.
- The future of the festival

- When it rains

- What and where is Glastonbury Festival
Glastonbury Festival.
1. Music festivals are the highlight of the year for some music lovers. There are many to choose from in Britain, especially in the summer months: festivals to celebrate blues, jazz, folk music and contemporary music. But perhaps the most famous is the Glastonbury Festival of rock music.
2. Every summer, 100,000 music lovers come to Somerset in the south west of England for the biggest rock festival in Europe – the Glastonbury Festival. The festival has taken place on the same farm nearly every year since 1970. For a few midsummer days, Michael Eavis, the festival organizer, transforms his farm into a huge outdoor arena. The cows are put in the winter sheds and hundreds of tents, caravans, burger bars, telephones and toilets arrive to take their place.
3. New bands and old bands come from all over the world to play at the Glastonbury Festival. Bands that have played there include Oasis, Blur, REM, Manic Street Preachers, Fatboy Slim and Blondie. You can wander around and choose which concerts you want to see. As well as the bands, there are fortunetellers, healers, sculptors masseurs and a circus.
4.Unfortunately, the weather is not always good. Some years it rains and the whole area becomes the sea of mud. That’s exactly what happened in 1997. The weather caused the worst traffic jam ever as 30,000 people arrived at the festival area. Tractors had to pull cars out of the mud. Then people spent sleepless nights trying to stop their tents blowing away. But in spite of the chaos most fans still enjoyed the festival.
5.The future of Glastonbury is uncertain because the organizers must sell at least 75,000 tickets every year to break even. Any profits are given to charities. The local schools benefit too. In return, local people help with the organization of the festival. Even when it rains the helpers and festivalgoers return year after year because of the fantastic atmosphere.
