Writing Expansion Activities:
Review Alaska SBA Assessments from online @ for 3rd – 12th graders. http://www.eed.state.ak.us/tls/assessment/SBS_ItemSamplers.html
1. Give a portion of the test over several 2 week periods for 3rd – 5th, or several 5 week periods for 6th – 12th on grade level or 1 to 2 grade levels below according to student ability. Blank out the grade level. (Do Reading. & Writing portions).
2. In depth, review the test answers with students giving the answers and explain why their answer is wrong (i.e., give examples).
3. When you are finished with their grade level SBA, try giving another grade level SBA one grade level higher or lower according to class/individual performance.
The writing prompt/exercise should help us prepare the students for the 6 – Trait Writing Assessment on 10/24/11 and 3/5/12 and the HSGQE on 4/3-5/12. / Whole Group

3. Let’s look to see which parts of the Theme Tests are already covered in the weekly tests and/or the AIMSweb Progress Monitoring to show where we are covering assessment for each lesson. Please note any assessments not being covered on each lesson in order for our Curriculum Team to look into these issues.
