Studentswhoaredeaf/hardofhearing(DHH) are underservedandoften misidentified.Thisisinpartdue tothelackofqualifiedteachersofthe deaf (TOD) andother professionalswithtrainingandexperience inworkingwithDHH students.
The goaloftheKSDE TASN Teacherof the Deaf EndorsementProject isto supportteacherswithcurrentKansaslicensure ingeneralor specialeducationto obtainanendorsementasa TOD.Bybuildingcapacityof Kansasteachersto addresstheunique needsofthe DHHpopulation,ourstudentswillbeprovided equalaccesstothe curriculumvia evidence-basedpractices.
