We learned a lot of big words this week.
One word is responsibility.
A responsibility is a job you have to do. (definition)
What are some of your responsibilities? Brainstorm ideas: do your homework, clean your room, make your bed, etc.
Let’s make sentences using the word responsibility.
Remember that a sentence tells what somebody did.
I’ll go first. “It is my responsibility to teach you.”
Give a sentence starter if needed. “It is my responsibility to ____.”
Let each child have a turn. Refer back to examples that where brainstormed if children need ideas about their responsibilities.
Another word we learned is need.
A need is a thing people and animals must have to live. Animal’s need food and water to live. (definition)
What do you need to live? food, water, shelter, love, clothes
Let’s make sentences using the word need.
I’ll go first. “I need to get a drink.”
Children each say a sentence with the word need. Give a started sentence if they need help. “Pets need _____.”
Another word we learned is shelter.
Animals need shelter to keep them warm and dry. Shelter is the place where you live. (definition)
What shelter do you live in? a house, apartment, etc.
Let’s make sentences with the word shelter.
I’ll go first. “The shelter kept the dog warm.”
Children each say a sentence using the word shelter. Give a sentence starter if needed.
“The cat’s shelter is ____.” Change the animal in the sentence for each child.
