"Blessed Assurance!"

Romans 8:28-39

INTRO. Many people in our world today face doubt not sure of what lies in store each new day. These people are overcome with worry and fear, unsure about their future. But we, the Children of God, have a "Blessed Assurance" based upon the precious promises of God! Not that we may not face doubts form time to time, but that we have an assurance about our future.

I want to title the message today, "Blessed Assurance!" In our text, The apostle Paul pens one of the greatest promises found in the Bible. V28 boldly declares, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called, according to his purpose."

Paul uses the words, "And we know..." In other words, we have assurance and understanding. We may not always fully understand God's purpose and plan, but we have assurance that all things work together for our ultimate good. Each circumstance that occurs in our life should cause us to rely fully on God and conform us to the Image of Christ, God's Son.

God desires His people to realize that no matter the trial, tribulation, or turmoil they might encounter; He is there with them, strengthening them, encouraging them, and seeing them through to the end. God promised the nation of Israel in Isaiah 43:2, "When thou passeth through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the fire kindle upon thee."

That promise is still valid for us today. God is always there, for He has promised, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5b). God's great love for us is seen in vv. 29-30 of our text. Paul, next asks in v31, "What shall we say to these things" "If God be for us, who can be against us?" Now, that's assurance!! God and us are a majority! We can face anything with Him!

Why do we have such assurance? Because:

(1) Our Assurance Is Based On God's Investment In Us

Text: Romans 8:31-32

A.  HE BESTOWED HIS LOVE TO US (Romans 5:8; John 3:16).

B.  HE BORE OUR SIN FOR US (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24).

(2) Our Assurance Is Based On God's Acquittal and Christ's Intercession

Text: Romans 8:33-34

*Two questions are asked:

A. “Who shall bring any charge against God's Elect?” (v33a). Romans

8:1 tells us, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which

are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

Paul says in the last part of v33--“It is God that justifieth.”

B. “Who is He that condemneth?" (v34a). The only one who could

condemn us is actually pleading our cause at God's right hand!

(Hebrews 7:25).

(3) Our Assurance Is Based On God's Great Love for Us In Christ Jesus

Text: Romans 8:35-39

A.  NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM GOD’S LOVE.

B. NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO GOD’S LOVE (1 John 4:7-10, 13-19).

The greatest display of love ever shown was shown at Calvary!

CLOSING: With God we have "Blessed Assurance". No matter what old Satan throws our way we can face it with the LORD!

Do you know Him as Savior today? If not, why not come and receive His "Blessed Assurance"?

Christian, Are you relying on God for all things? He can calm your doubts and fears!
