CALLING ALL OLD BAGS!
TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR OLD BAGS LUNCHEON TO BENEFIT JERSEY BATTERED WOMEN’S SERVICE OF MORRIS COUNTY
Fashion Designer Jeff Mahshie of Anne Klein to Address Crowd
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ, SEPTEMBER 2013 – In need of a new old designer bag? Tickets are on sale now for the Jersey Battered Women’s Service of Morris County’s first-ever Old Bags Luncheon fundraiser. The Old Bags Luncheon is a fundraising event that offers a silent auction for ladies looking to increase their bag collection while donating to aid in the prevention of domestic violence.
The Old Bags Luncheon will be held at Spring Brook Country Club at noon on Tuesday, October 15, and is organized by co-chairs Joen Ferrari and Rose-Emily Calo and a committee of 16 Morris County women. Tickets cost $100. To purchase tickets or for more information, please visit www.jbws.org.
The afternoon’s program includes speaker Jeff Mahshie, senior vice president creative director for Anne Klein, The Jones Group. Mahshie will address the crowd on the latest styles for fall.
“We are calling all women to enjoy a day of fashion and fun that directly benefits our community,” Ferrari said. “This is a very special event for women to help women.”
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on bags that range from vintage and designer – including two from the St. John collection -- to one donated by soap opera star Susan Lucci.
Provident Bank Foundation will be a Copper Clutch Sponsor of the event. The bank has been a long-time supporter of JBWS, providing volunteers to events and programs, and as JBWS board leadership. The individual branches also have participated in other JBWS fundraisers, including the sale of lanterns and mother and child pins to promote awareness.
Old Bags committee member Jennifer Fondots, CNE, sales associate at Weichert Realtors in Bernardsville, spearheaded Weichert’s efforts to open its doors to support the event by serving as a collection site for bag donations. Fondots also has gotten the support of nine other Weichert locations throughout Morris County to assist in this effort.
All proceeds from the Old Bags Luncheon will benefit the Jersey Battered Women’s Service of Morris County, a full-service, private, nonprofit domestic violence agency. The mission of JBWS is the prevention of domestic violence through the protection and empowerment of the victim, the rehabilitation of family members, the advocacy of social reform to prevent partner violence, and the education of the public about domestic violence and its consequences.
For more information about the Old Bags Luncheon and to purchase tickets, please visit www.jbws.org or call 973-267-7520, ext. 278.
