Volunteer Roles - Smugglers Trail
Please contact Lauren Kendrick with your availability and interest.
Pond Protector5.30pm – 11pm
Two volunteers are asked to look after the pond area. This is a beautiful part of the site - but because it is water it may cause a slip hazard. We ask that you keep a look out for people entering the area, and kindly ask those who do enter the area to leave for their own safety, and that of the wildlife in the pond.
The Green Backyard Stand11.30-5.00
This will be where people can find out more about how to get involved, opportunities and what activities we have at GBY. You may need to answer questions on the history of site and of the charity.
Car park attendant10.00-3.00pm OR 3.00-8.00pm
The volunteer will direct all cars attempting to access the GBY site to the car park opposite.
Gazebo and GBY marquee set up team8.30-11.30am
We will need a number of people to help put up gazebos and marquees on the morning of the event, and to ensure that all tables and chairs are in the right place. The geo-dome cover will need to be put on and secured.
Site support10.00-3.00pm OR 3.00-8.00pm
Volunteers will be required to support the site, this will be a varied role and will support the Zone Managers, this could include but not exclusive to keeping the site tidy, litter picking, washing up, heating hot water/fetching water, helping install and pack down stands and activities, helping move items.
Pizza Shack
11-4.30 OR 4.30-10.00
Providing home-cooked pizzas for consumption. Six volunteers in two teams, 1 seller, 1 oven overseer and 1 pizza creator. They will ensure good hygiene levels at all times, offering vegan and vegetarian options. The fire will be lit at 11am, and all dough and sauce made the previous day. Food will be served in recyclable paper bags. The seller will need to be confident, friendly and understand the needs of the customers as well as the kitchen.
Food service will finish at 10pm or when the food runs out. Provision will be made for 120 pizzas.
Jacket Potato Team
5.00-8.00pm
This year I would like to trial jacket potatoes, these are a popular and filling food and may help to relieve pressure on the pizza team and be a popular gluten free alternative.
Sunday clean-up and celebration10.00-3.00pm
If you are free on Sunday 30th July, please can you help us restore the site to normal? There will be a celebratory lunch provided.
