Dear Fantastic First Grader and Parents,
Welcome to First Grade! My name is Ms. Maple and I will be your teacher this year in Room 122. I am so excited to have you in my class and cannot wait to meet you! First grade is such a special year and I am thrilled to share it with you! This summer I spent time at the beach, read many books, enjoyed time with friends and family, and traveled to Brazil!
What will you need?
- Plastic hard pencil box (a standard sized 7 ½” x 4 ½” x 2” pencil box works the best)
- 1 two-pocket folder (for our unfinished work)
- 1 box of thin low odor Expo dry erase markers & Expo eraser or sock to use as an eraser
- 1 set of headphones in a ziplock bag (please label)
- 5 glue sticks
- 1 box of pencils - sharpened
- 1 box of colored pencils - sharpened (no more than 24)
- 1 picture of you doing something special this summer to share with the rest of our 1st grade friends
Everyday you should bring:
- A sturdy backpack with your name written on it
- A healthy snack packed separately from your lunch (no juice boxes). Please have child’s name written on the snack as well as their lunch. Please make the snack peanut free for the 1st day.
- A SMILE!
First Grade is a very exciting and special year! We will learn to read, write stories, and solve word problems. We will play games to help us practice our math facts. We will even start writing our own poems! Sharing our publications with our new friends and our families are a big part of first grade! Our classroom will become its own small community where learning, friendship, and growth will be fostered. We will learn about each other and make new friends. With the collaboration of parents, teachers, and students I know this will be a rewarding and successful year for all. I strive to have an open communication system between parents and myself. Please feel free to email me () with any questions, concerns, or feedback you may have.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! See you in Room 122!
Love,
Ms. Maple
