Guidelines for Article Reflection
- Paragraph One: Summarize the essay
In the genre of the text “title of the essay,”writer’s full namestatesreplace this word with a synonymthatwriter’s main idea or argument. Writer’s last name saysexplain the main idea. - Paragraph Two: evaluation of the article/essay/text
- Is the title of the text appropriate and clear?
- Do you find errors of fact and interpretations?
- Is all of the discussion relevant?
- Are the writer’s statements clear? Challenge ambiguous statements.
- Has the writer been objective in his or her discussion of the topic?
- What evidence/source is being used to support the argument? Is it pertinent/relevant?
- Does the writer present the evidence to back up a point made, to illustrate a point, or to engender sympathy toward an argument?
- Has any ideas been overemphasized or underemphasized? Suggest specific revision.
- Should some sections of the text be expanded, condensed or omitted?
- What general assumptions does the author make? For what purpose?
- Paragraph Three: Your reaction to the article
Offer some of your own opinions and insight about the article, and use textual evidence to support them.

Format:
Typed preferred => one page (about 500-600 words), single spaced, 12 font size and Times New Roman Hand-written => Two pages neatly and legibly written in blue or black ink Do not write on the back of the paper.
