-: Self-Employment Scheme :-
The scheme is called “Bangla Swanirbhar karmasansthan Prakalpa” (B.S.K.P).
The objective of the scheme is to generate Self-Employment in the state of West Bengal through promotion of tiny scale units of Production, Manufacturing, Trade, and Service on any sector including agro-based industries. The scheme came into effect from the financial year 2000-2001 in the URBAN areas and from 2006-2007 in the RURAL area.
Any unemployed entrepreneur who is within 18 to 45 years of age whose family income does not exceed Rs. 15000/- per month and who is registered with the Employment Exchange may apply either individually or in a group of 5 or more. The group members should belong to the same area and their family income individually should not exceed Rs. 15000/- per month.
The project cost limit is Rs. 10 Lakh for individual schemes and Rs. 25 Lakh for Group scheme. Not more than one member of the same family shall be eligible for constituting a group.
Employees of Central Government/ State Government/ Government undertaking and their family member shall not be eligible.
Detailed information can be had from the Block Development Officer in the rural area and the Municipal Youth Officer in the urban area.
It is a bankable Government Subsidised Scheme. The State Government provides a grant of subsidy 20% of the Project Cost subject to the maximum limit of Rs. 1,00,000/- (one lakh) for individual scheme (ATMAMARYADA) and Rs.2.5 lakh (two lakh and fifty thousand) for group scheme (ATMASANMAN).
Government of West Bengal implements the scheme through the Society for Self-Employment of Unemployed Youth, West Bengal.

-: Interest Subsidy :-
The State Government has undertaken a scheme for providing Interest Subsidy to the eligible Self-Help groups on a portion of the interest charged by the Commercial Banks and Co-Operative Banks. This scheme is called “WEST BENGAL SWANIRBHAR SAHAYAK PRAKALPA” (W.B.S.S.P). Idea behind the scheme is to fulfil the Self-Employment potential for the numbers of such groups particularly the women members.
All SHGs who are covered under the NABARD Bank self-help group Bank linkage programme including groups promoted by the Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies ( PACS) and other co-operative agencies.
All SHGs who are covered by the existing project linked group scheme of SGSY being implemented and monitored by the Panchyat and Rural Development of State Government.
Calculation of interest subsidy and payment thereof under WBSSP
Interest subsidy will be the difference between 4 per centum and the actual rate of interest being normally charged by the bank against the scheme provided that, in no case the subsidy will exceed 7 per centum on the amount of credit at the end of each six monthly cycle.
The scheme came into effect on and from 1st April 2009. Since inception of the scheme Rs. 14,83.957- has been released till date. Report mentioned below.
