Meeting Minutes – November 29, 2001

  1. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 in the evening at Ashley Miller’s house.

  1. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

Robin moved to approve the minutes from the October 25th meeting. Ashley seconded.

  1. Review of Activities – Positives and Deltas
  2. Fall Work Parties (10/18/01 & 11/3/01)

+Lots of work done to fix the ramp, paint the buoys, and pick up the trash in the parks and on the berm.

+200 hay bales put out as temporary erosion control.

People need advanced notice before work parties. Event Committee should start a calling tree and make sure work parties are on the calendar.

4.Update on Planned Activities

  • Holiday Party – Chairwoman, Ashley (12/15/01)

At this time, 41 people responded with full payment for the party.

  • Polar Bear Club – Chairwoman, Robin (1/1/02)

Postcard invitations will be sent out to all POA members after the Holiday Party. The RSVP will be taken off the invitation, so people don’t feel like they have to make a reservation in order to be able to attend. Cathy Akkerman has volunteered to make two posters to put in the neighborhood. Lisa X, Melissa P, Vickie S and Cindy G have all volunteered to make soup for the polar bears and spectators. Robin will shop for cups, bowls, spoons, napkins, cream, sugar, coffee and cocoa. She will buy enough cups to use the leftovers at the 1st Quarterly POA meeting.

  • Princeton Lakes Sweatshirts – Chairwoman, Sara ($ due by 1/1/02)

Sweatshirts will be sold to POA members starting in December. M, L and XL Adult Sweatshirts will be $25, 2X Adult Sweatshirts will be $27 and Youth Sweatshirts will be $15. An email with an order form will go out to all POA members during the first week in December. We will have a sample shirt and order forms at the Holiday Party and at the Polar Bear Club. Color samples and the order form will also be on the website,

  • First Quarter General Meeting – Chairwoman, ? (2/7/02)

Water will be provided in pitchers with ice and cups, instead of bottled water to save money for the Event Committee. Pretzels/Goldfish will also be served.

5.2002 Bimonthly Calendar

After reviewing the returned surveys, the following activities were planned for 2002. We chose the top 4 voted-on events for the Quarterly Socials.

  • Quarterly Social Events
  • 1st Quarter – Polar Bear Club (1/1/02)
  • 2nd Quarter – Ice Cream Social (June)
  • 3rd Quarter – 2nd Annual End of Summer Bash/FUN Tournament (8/31/02-9/1/02)

We are tentatively planning to have the BBQ and Tournament on Sunday and a Junior Development Day on Saturday. Junior Development will an activity chaired by Cheryll Myrick to teach the Princeton Lakes kids better technique behind the boat.

  • 4th Quarter – Holiday Party (December)
  • Semiannual Educational Classes
  • Spring – a men’s and a women’s boat driving class will be planned for the spring. Classes will be scheduled for at least 2 different times during the weekend to fit better into POA member’s schedules.
  • Fall – the topic of this class will be determined at a later date depending on any specific needs of the community.

  • Work Parties – will be planned by the Lake Operations Committee, all the Event Committee has to do is provide snacks and drinks.

6.December Mailing (Newsletters, January/February Calendar, Boat Stickers)

Ashley and Laura are working on the December newsletter. Sara is working on the January/February calendar. David Halloin has boat stickers and has offered to help stuff envelopes during the second week in December.

7.2002 Budget

The budget was reviewed after we chose our 2002 events. See attached sheet.

8.Welcome Kits

Gordon previously provided welcome kits at all lot closings. However, now the POA is responsible for this. We have a possible 18 lots closing during 2002. (11 off water lots and 2 on water lots are still unsold, plus 2 builder lots that will be resold and 3 other lots already up for resale.)

9.Adjournment

Our next meeting will be at Buffalo Joe’s Restaurant in downtown McKinney on January 17, 2002 at 6:00 pm. See you there! 
