Job Title: Senior Project Estimator

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The position, based out of Pine Brook, NJ will focus on a multi-faceted role for the PROJECT ESTIMATOR. Reporting to the Estimation Manager, the Senior Project Estimator will help provide overall technical solutions that fully supports client’s business strategy and profitability goals.

The position performs Project Estimating and other pre-construction activities for various markets and understands general security system electronics, including Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion detection, Perimeter Security and other inter-related electronic systems and technology. The Project Estimator understands how to construct complete Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and Scopes of Work (SOW) in a timely manner and meet deadlines. Must have the ability to interpret and edit blue prints and schematics, handle multiple projects at the same time, work under time and budget constraints, and possess good communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interface with our Sales team for new and existing clients, serving as the technical support person for structured cabling and physical security system opportunities.
  • Attend client meetings with a salesperson to qualify leads and help in pre-design and layout ideas for technology solutions. Results include:
  • Survey sheet detailing locations and required work
  • Photos by location and/or customer-provided site plans
  • Allocation of equipment to locations
  • Topology maps of proposed network
  • Analyze blueprints, drawings and design specifications to perform material and labor “Take-Off’s” to assist in preparing a compliant engineered solution.
  • Work with the Engineering Manager & the Construction manager to value engineer systems to define and refine project scope prior to finalization.
  • Generate technical Scopes of Work (SOW), Bill of Materials (BOM’s) and detailed design narratives for engineered solutions and cost estimates.
  • Prepare a Timeline and Task List for project execution and completion.
  • Prepare aPreliminary Finance Package for submission by Relationship Manager for internal approval. Preliminary Finance Package to include:
  • Statement of Work
  • BOM, based on Estimate Sheet and including:
  • List of Equipment and Materials
  • Number of Technician Hours, Engineering Hours and Project Management Hours (as applicable)
  • Travel and Mobilization Charges and Miscellaneous Expenses
  • Vendor Quotes
  • Subcontractor Statements of Work (if necessary)
  • Upon receipt of client PO or signed LOA, the Project Estimator will perform a knowledge transfer to the assignedProject Manager which will include all assembled documentation related to the opportunity.
  • Maintain client and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain daily written and verbal communication with the sales team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Industry education and experience.
  • Minimum (5) five years direct related experience.
  • Experience with structured cabling, access control and video surveillance.
  • Exceptional Time Management, multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and have excellent follow-up skills in order to drive tasks to completion.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with BICSI Installation guidelines.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Tri-State area.
  • Some Visio and/or AutoCAD experience is preferred.
