Women’s Resource and Action Center- Megan Schorr, Violence Prevention Coordinator
Bystander intervention training occurs with UI athletes, Greek life, rhetoric programming courses, and others. Believes that the messenger truly matters, it’s important that bystanders are educated. Would be ideal to have two violence prevention officers at University.

S.S.R11 – Resolution to Endorse Full Time Violence Prevention Coordinators
Senator Brittain and Senator Hidalgo-Wohlleben say that Megan doesn’t have the capacity to educate everyone on campus and they want to be able to expand and have two full time staff on campus. Senator Banach expresses her support and talks about the importance of the students on campus taking part of this problem. A core piece to aid in prevention would include two full time positions to help educate as many people as possible on campus. Senator Rodriguez asks senators to continue to push this and go forward with this prevention. Motioned by Senator Wampler Seconded by Senator Kessler.

S.S.B. 16 – UISG Website Project Creation Funding
Senator Zuckerman discusses the student org website project to provide university sponsored websites to student orgs on campus. This project allocates $7,000 for the creation of websites. Yields the floor to Exec. Assistant Brown. Brown discusses that this piece talks about the upfront cost of up to $7,000, will know exact cost in a few weeks. Will help shape how students have access to websites. CFO Turner discusses the ease of funding this program. Motioned by Senator Bartoski Seconded by Senator Wampler.

S.S.B 17-- UISG Website Project Funding Standard Bylaws Change
Senator Pejkanovic yields the floor to Exec Assistant Brown. Brown says that there is a change to a “$100*” funding standards.Student orgs can update their website once every three years. Only 100 student orgs can receive websites, first come first serve basis. Motioned by Senator Hidalgo-Wohlleben, seconded by Senator Brown.

S.S.R. 12--Resolution to Endorse in-state Tuition for Undocumented Citizens
Senator Bushnell discusses the endorsement to support people who have been in the state of Iowa for ten years being able to receive in state tuition even if they are not citizens. Senator Bell says that as long as people work hard they should be able to qualify. Motioned by Senator Zuckerman, seconded by Senator Brittatin.

Executive Reports
-President Valde discusses how students can get involved with the sexual assaults going on around campus. Including the legislation passed and a marketing campaign in order to lend their voices. Thanks those who attended the fireside chat with President Mason. This Thursday at 3:30 there will be a round table discussion with Mason in the 2nd floor ballroom. The master calendar mobile app is supposed to launch April 1st!
-Vice-President Cummings talks about the thumbs up they have received from the Cambus director and the PA system they are going to put forth.
-Diversity Liaison Cai says UISG is in collaboration with nine other multicultural orgs. March 8th, a Saturday,is the Multicultural Ball at 8pm at Old Brick. There will be food, socializing, a hypnotist, and an open dance floor.
-Communications Specialist Dickson discusses the launch of the new website and shows senators how it works. Thursday there is a sexual assault campaign there will be a scripted post that they include with Hawkeye orientation groups, encourages senators to share these on Facebook and attend meeting Thursday.
-Chief Of Staff DeBettignies talks about taking the approach on the perpetrators and the bystander intervention effect.
-Exec Assistant Brown discusses the importance of student orgs signing up fast in order to be part of the first 100 that get funded for the website project. March 8th is the deadline to apply for that fiscal funding.
-Governmental Relations Liaison Brown talks about how she was in Des Moines last Tuesday and how legislators and senators were excited for Hawkeye Caucus day. April 2nd 8am-3pm is Hawkeye Caucus day and is required for senators.
-Sustainability Liaison Ding says UI is 2nd in the big ten in the recycling competition. Also discusses textbook costs and the possibility to enforce teachers putting books needed on ICON earlier, and access to journals.
-City Council Liaison Bramel talks about the gateway project meeting that was held tonight, iowacitygateway.org for more info. On March 11th, one of the engineers is coming to discuss the project with the senators. More info on PAULAs becoming civil citations to come. Over-occupancy fines are an issue to be addressed also.
Committee Chairs
-Senator Brown says “Flippin into finals” was a success! Expected to serve 1,400 students this semester, compared to the 800 served last semester.
-Senator Wampler says April 12th is the library book drive. Says radio show is a success and thanks everyone who has participated.
-Senator Bell says that senators emailed legislators they will talk to on Hawkeye Caucus to start building relationships.
-Senator Bartoski discusses that the JFC meeting for CFO funding that occurred Sunday February 15.
-Senator Kessler talks about the biohazard boxes implemented and the add/drop deadline project they will be working on. They will also be taking a part in the sexual assault campaign on campus. If there are wording changes on the rhetoric of the emails sent you can send changes to Dean Grady and they would be happy to entertain those.
-Senator Carr talks about the global leadership workshop she recently participated in.
