SUMMARY OF POSITION: To provide speech-language pathology services in
accordance with policies and procedures and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Essential Functions (But not limited to)
1. Provide evaluation and treatment of cognitive, communication and swallowing disorders in accordance with physician orders.
2. Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.
3. Compliance with federal and state regulations, professional guidelines and code of ethics for the profession of speech language pathology and provision of speech language pathology services.
Essential Qualifications (But not limited to)
1. Graduate of an accredited master’s level speech-language pathology program.
2. Certificate of Clinical Competence or completing post-graduate clinical experience (clinical fellowship year) is required.
3. State credentialing/licensure as required.
4. Synthesis of knowledge related to anatomy, physiology, and pathology for effective evaluation and treatment of swallowing, communication and cognitive disorders.
5. Sound clinical judgment relating to the provision of speech language pathology services.
6. Collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team in delivery of patient care to maximize functional outcomes.
7. Knowledge of federal and state regulations and professional guidelines as relates to delivery of speech-language pathology services.

Purpose for the Position: TheSpeech Language Pathologists serve inpatients and outpatients of infant through geriatric ages needing Speech/Swallowing Therapy through prompt, courteous and effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of progress of the patient; provide accurate and timely patient evaluation and progress reports to the ordering practitioner in order to facilitate the delivery of effective and efficient patient care.
Essential Responsibilities: *Note: While these are considered essential responsibilities of the position alternatives or accommodations may be considered, if the situation requires.
1. Administers diagnostic speech and language evaluations and basic, informal audiological assessment (hearing screening). Additionally, provides diagnostic evaluation of swallowing skills.
2. Prepares a report of each patient’s diagnostic evaluation and makes recommendations.
3. Provides direct speech/swallowing therapy service to patients under a physician’s plan of care. Records and reports to the physician the patient’s response to therapy.
4. Maintains appropriate records including evaluation, plans of care, and daily therapy notes of speech/swallowing patients.
5. Assists in coordinating speech therapy/swallowing therapy program with other services.
6. Demonstrates therapy for responsible persons who may assist the patient with his speech/language or swallowing rehabilitation.
7. Observes and evaluates the performance of those assisting in the speech/swallowing program and provides guidance as necessary to assure a high quality of service.
8. Counsels the patients and their family members regarding the patient’s speech/language and/or swallowing disorder.
9. Re-evaluates the patient’s progress and therapy program making changes as necessary.
10. Assists in referring patients to necessary and appropriate community agencies or therapy programs.
11. Provides liaison contact and follow-up with other community agencies.
12. Uses common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped with regard to the patient’s age and diagnosis.
Job Requirements
We are looking for apart timetherapist to work 48 hours every two weeks. Must have CCC-SLP certification and Indiana state licensure. Previous experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
