REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
2012 Urban/Rural Aboriginal Funding
The Urban Aboriginal Working Group is accepting applications for Labour Market Projects or Services (start date of April 12, 2012 ending March 31, 2013) to increase the participation of Urban Aboriginal citizens in today’s workforce.
In order to be considered for review, all applications must be submitted to our office NO LATER THAN:
Friday February 17, 2012 at 4:00 pm
Who Can apply? Aboriginal organizations situated within an urban setting or municipality
Based on Program Roster criteria and eligibility, the UAWG is seeking applications that meet the following criteria:

- Proposals that respond to industry driven skill development
- Activities to increase the skill levels of Aboriginal citizens
- Results based for long term and short term employment
- Progressive initiatives that will encourage greater participation in the work force
- Employment Assistance Services
- Employment Preparation Programs
- Self –Employment Services

Applications must clearly demonstrate employment results, or increase industry driven skills certification requirements
All applications are required to demonstrate partnerships established for the program or service being proposed. Funding will be contingent upon partnerships. The partnerships may comprise of a working relationship and secured in-kind or a financial contribution from the partner. Applications must demonstrate strong accountability measures exist.
If your organization is submitting more than one application, a letter prioritizing the projects must accompany the applications.
Applications MUST BE SUBMITTED On The Urban Component Funding Application.
Applications incorrectly submitted WILL BE RETURNED TO THE SPONSOR.
Applications will be accepted by email (with hard copy to follow) by stated deadline.

The following definitions have been provided to ensure a clear understanding of terminology.
UrbanIs defined as being within 30 kilometres of the city boundaries of Prince George.
RuralOrganizations situated within municipalities in the Prince George – Nechako area, defined as; north to Mackenzie, east to McBride/Valemount; west to BurnsLake.
LifeskillsNot funded as stand-alone projects and must be linked to the Industry.
UpgradingIn this instance refers to academics required by Industry & Trades; outside funding must be acquired to include an upgrading component in a training program.
Clientele:Aboriginal citizens residing within an urban or municipal setting
