Desert Hellstorm: Orks vs. Tyranids Battle Report

Two guys from Blue Table Painting’s assembly department take it to the mat with their personal armies. They played Breakout (40K Rulebook p213), which is a furious showdown. Even at full bore, it takes four turns for the attacker to get off the board edge. The only way to get more speed is to charge and sweep, but that carries the danger of getting bogged down.

Some things start small, with a spark, but ignite into something much bigger. I was cutting hills out of hard styro in the terrain room a few weeks back when I decided to try cutting with a long razor rather than a hand saw. I cut only part way through and tried to snap the odd piece off, but it didn’t come off all the way. It left an unusual shelf-like formation. That led to making a small sandstone hill:

A few days later I went back to the terrain room just to see what I could accomplish in an hour. I ended up spending ten hours working on terrain. I ended up with two full sets of sandstone terrain.

I found the table covering in Wal Mart’s bedding department. I’ve found that twin-sized sheets are ideal for a 6x4 foot table.

It was a pity not to actually play a game on that table. I got Bill and Jordan from the Assembly department to do a battle report. This is my second attempt to do this with video and it turned out a lot smoother than the first one I did (Orks vs. Germans 40K). So without further ado, here you are:
