Job Title: Senior Physiotherapist
Job Location:Newcastle West, Co. Limerick
Reporting to:Children’s Services Manager
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office:
2.1possess the BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Dublin.
or
2.2possess the bachelor in Physiotherapy (Hons) degree from the National University of Ireland.
or
2.3possess the Diploma in Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University of Ireland.
or
2.4possess a qualification in physiotherapy equivalent to 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 above which has been validated by NVP Northern area Health Board, Swords Business Campus, Balheary Road, Swords, Co Dublin. Tel: 01 8908702. Fax: 01 8131873 at the closing date for this competition.
And
The senior chartered Physiotherapist will have a proven record of clinical and academic achievement and a minimum of three years post qualification experience working in the area of childhood disability.
The senior chartered Physiotherapist must be CORU registered or evidence having commenced CORU registration process.

Job Purpose
To provide a high quality Physiotherapy Service to children and their families referred to the West Limerick Children’s Services.
General
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a physiotherapy service to children with developmental delay. The service will be delivered in a multidisciplinary framework working with the West Limerick Children’s Services Team as appropriate. In addition the post holder will participate in clinical education, training and supervision of basic grade and student physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants as appropriate.
Duties
- Day to day participation of the multidisciplinary service to children with developmental delay.
- Responsibility for ensuring the delivery of an effective and efficient Children’s Service through:
-Establishment of profession specific quality standards and outcome measures and participation in setting and monitoring multidisciplinary standards for assessment and intervention
-Regular monitoring and review of the service including clinical audit
-Staff development
- To take a role in policy making and planning within the Children’s Services Team.
- Advising the Management of the Children’s Services and the Physiotherapy Service of future service requirements/developments and participation in the Service Planning process.
- To provide professional representation in establishing the highest standards of collaborative practice with colleagues within West Limerick Children’s Services Team.
- To promote Paediatric Physiotherapy and establish working practices.
- To establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues within Education and Community Services.
- Participation in regular team meetings of West Limerick Children’s Services Team.
- Organisation and participation in teaching/training activities for colleagues within Physiotherapy, students and other disciplines.
- Responsibility for the development and maintenance of appropriate resources for other colleagues and parents, ie, information, training, literature and equipment, etc.
Clinical
- Day to day management of individual caseload including assessment and intervention.
- Participation in joint assessment where appropriate with colleagues from the Early Intervention Team.
- Planning and delivery interventions both individually and interdisciplinary.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers of the children receiving services.
- Maintaining correct up to date legally viable child/family records.
- Attendance at/reporting to case conferences review meetings, placement meetings, etc., as appropriate.
- Establishment and development of liaison with appropriate organisations, voluntary agencies etc.
- Development of and participation in training programmes for colleagues in Physiotherapy and other disciplines and carers/families.
- Maintain awareness of professional literature, current developments in Paediatric Physiotherapy through self-education, training and professional development.
- Maintenance of all service policies and procedures including the collection of statistics in accordance with service requirements.
General

You are required to establish and maintain relationships with the individuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
The above duties and responsibilities are a reflection of the present service requirements and may be subject to amendment to meet the changing needs of the service.
TERMSAND CONDITIONS:
Status:Full-time fixed term 6 month contract.
Hours:37 hours per week
Salary Scale:€51,645 - €60,810.(less 10% for new entrants to the Public Health Service)
Responsible to:Children’s Services Manager
Probation:A probationary period of 3 months applies to this employment
