SUMMARY:
The Grant Writer/Compliance Manager will work with Commissioners and other Band leadership. The Grant Writer/Compliance Manager supervises project directors and others, as needed and requested, to help keep all grant funding agreements and contracts in compliance with their program goals, reporting requirements, and federal or state regulations. Active and engaged in the oversight of every project or program which receives outside funding, when available the Grant Writer/Compliance Manager also helps find new funding and research new opportunities, gather needed data and information, prepare required certifications and assurances, arrange and coordinate partnerships, secure MOU’s and letters of support and/or commitment, request resolutions, etc., in order to write and submit complete applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in relevant field required.
- One (1) to Three (3) years of experience in managing grants compliance required.
- One (1) to Three (3) years grant solicitation experience required.
- Excellent presentational skills in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
- Experience in working with Native American organizations or Indian tribes required
- Excellent computing skills in a Windows environment, including Word and spreadsheet software.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Band’s Auto Insurance Policy.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, develop, and write proposals in support of fundraising activities on behalf of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
- Prepare government, foundation and corporate proposals for both general and specific program support.
- Track and monitor proposals to make sure proposals are submitted in the required from by the required deadline.
- Research and follow-up on new and existing funding sources, including governmental contracts, foundations, corporations, and individuals.
- Prepare and update development activity and solicitation and reporting calendar.
- Prepare and file grant reports as required by the funding source.
- Assist and advise others in the preparation of grant reports.
- Monitor compliance of grant programs.
- When necessary draft plans to bring non-compliant grant programs into compliance with grant regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of all financial reports required by grant agencies, and coordinate report reviews by appropriate personnel.
- Make alternate arrangements for report completion when deadlines will be missed.
- Assist program managers with requests for financial information regarding grant.
- Assist others in the development and submissions of grant proposals.
- Provide technical training and supervision regarding procedures and changes in tribal, state and federal grant regulations.
- Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with grant program managers to ensure the ongoing flow of information and networking.
- Assist project directors and others, as needed and requested, for grant program management and compliance.
- Help supervise grant department staff and manage grant department activities.
- Review and recommend methods or procedures to promote greater efficiency in executing grant program activities.
- Actively participate in professional organizations and functions as voting members of regional and national committees as needed.
