GRADING:
Grading will be based on set criteria of each assignment or project. Grades will be based more on effort than ability on art projects. Unless noted, projects should be done IN class. If a student has earned a total of 845 points for the 9 weeks and there are 1000 points possible, the student has earned an 84.5 or a B for the 9 weeks.
Possible points are as follows unless otherwise stated:
*Tests= 100 points
*Art projects will be determined a point value prior to assigning based on difficulty,
usually from 10 to 50 points.
*Daily work will be worth 1 point per answer. (More answers, more paper is worth.)
*Homework: Homework will be given from time to time and point value will be based
the same as projects and daily work.
*Journals (Criticism): These short worksheets will be given prior to class and a pre-
selected piece of art will be used to answer questions. Worth 10 points each.
*Contracts: Contracts will be given from time to time for certain projects. These are
protection for the student and teacher from lack of communication and confusion. Contracts will be given prior to a project and filled out by entire class. Not all projects will require a contract but many will. Contract will state project name, process, evaluation and due date and where to turn in work. Contracts are worth 5 points each and will be included in total points at end of grading period. This is not extra credit!
TESTS: Test will be given at the end of certain units. Tests are worth 100 points each.
Units include elements/principles of art, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Renaissance,
Modern art movement, and possible others if time allows.
Oklahoma requires that art history, humanities, and cultural studies be a part of the
Art experience as part of the P.A.S.S. skills.
EXTRA CREDIT: No extra credit will be accepted except attend an art museum of the current
semester unless stated by instructor. Students will have to answer questions pertaining to trip for credit and must turn in some form of admittance ticket. Only one will be accepted per semester and points will be determined from museum attended.
ATTENTION!!! If you do not understand something, it is your responsibility to find out! Ask! The worst answer is, “I didn’t know.”
______
This is your first assignment and worth 20 points. No credit will be given without signature of both parties. Do not sign until you understand everything. Again, ask!
