Thesis Requirement for 2007F-2008S:

Culminating Experience Courses have been renamed “Thesis Courses.” Students can satisfy the requirement by taking two of any of the following Thesis courses (listed below) from Arts or Communication for the 2007-2008 academic year.

PLEASE NOTE: Thesis Experience courses cannot satisfy both the Thesis requirement and the Concentration requirement for EMAC. Students who intend on using a course to satisfy the Thesis requirement must declare this intention to their instructor on the first day of class. With the exception of the Internship class, these two courses should be taken within the last two semesters of the academic year in order to fulfill the Thesis requirement. Previous semesters of the same course will not fulfill the requirement.

The Thesis experience consists of eight 4000-level credits within the concentration, culminating in a public presentation and documentation of the work produced. The eight credits may be selected from a list of eligible courses and internships within each concentration. Students may select two courses or one course and an internship. If this is your first thesis course, you must complete Part One of the EMAC Thesis Requirement Form stating your intentions regarding the second course when you register for that course. Submit Part One of the form to Erin Glasheen.

If this is your second thesis course, you must complete Part Two of the EMAC Thesis Requirement Form describing the public presentation of your thesis. Submit Part Two of the form to Erin Glasheen and the instructor for the second thesis course or internship by the date specified on the form. Upon completion of the presentation, you must submit documentation of the presentation and a copy of this form to the instructor for his/her signature.

If you do not complete the presentation and documentation, the instructor will give you an “Incomplete” in the thesis course or internship.

A Thesis Experience will require that you produce a project that:

*involves demonstrating a wide range of knowledge and skills that span your undergraduate experience; and

*results in a presentation and documentation of a performance or work that will become part of your portfolio.

It is possible that other courses may be added to or subtracted from the list of Culminating Experience courses in subsequent semesters. If additional courses are added, students will be notified prior to registration for that semester.

Courses that satisfy the Thesis Experience for 2007- 2008 are:
