General Membership Meeting Wednesday April 17, 2013 7pm

Teacher’s Report: Barb Bates
- MSA Snacks – Thank you to everyone who helped sort the snacks!!! This was the most help Barb has ever had!!! The kids and teachers all appreciate the snacks.
- Straight A Breakfast: 3rd quarter breakfast – Wednesday, May 8 at 7:30 am. Email being sent to request volunteers.
- From Mrs. Wallace - Science: We NEED HELP with organizing and putting together our Green School notebook for green school certification. If there is any mom or dad that would be able to help us, we would really appreciate it. Contact Toni Wallace if you are interested in helping.
- If anyone has any old athletic equipment they would like to donate, send it in with their children and it will be used during lunches. It can be dropped off in the boxes located outside the gym. Any ?'s contact Mr.
- We are still in need of donations for the silent auction part of the teacher/parent basketball game. An email was sent out.
- THANK YOU so much for all of the snacks for the teachers that you provided during testing!! We really appreciated it.
- Mrs. Smith submitted a reimbursement request before spring break for #301.75 for the books that the PTSA buys annually. I haven’t gotten the check yet. Can you please check with the treasurer?

- Mulch money still coming in. Invoice for the mulch is in. Need to reconcile with Kathy Sadler – on track for $8,300 profit.
- Received a matching gift from Wells Fargo. Need to consider other companies with matching gifts.
- Quiz Bowl looks negative but it is not really. It is combined with the Activity Bus and the account needs reconciliation.
- Honor Society has not spent its money. – Heather Bateman will follow up.
- The Donuts for Dads funds are available for redistribution.
- Awaiting all the 8th grade and end of year activity submission.
- Budget Summary available on the web site.

* parent teacher basketball game May 3rd– Men and women are practicing. Auction is run by the teachers and they need more items: seee the web site. Money is slated for the technology fund including replacement of LCD bulbs @ $200 a piece, and adding laptops to the mobile lab.

- Motion to propose Ms. Smith request for funds for poster maker to member vote/ consider motion for alternative funding/appropriations
- Approved $1000 from 2013/14 budget.
- Approved fund raiser for an additional $1000 for 2013/2014
- Consider motion to approve CMS PTSA mission/vision statement in accordance with National Mission statement:
The Mission of the CMS PTSA is three-fold:
1- To support and speak on behalf of CMS parents, students and staff, in the Catonsville community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
2-To assist CMS parents and staff in developing the skills and programs they need to educate, support and protect CMS students;
3-To encourage parent and public involvement in the Catonsville community and state of MD

- CMS is holding the 5th Annual Teachers vs. Parents Basketball game in an effort to raise money to outfit each classroom with some much-needed technology. All proceeds from this event will be used to contribute to our ultimate goal of purchasing technology for each classroom, such as Dell mini-computers, speakers, and projectors.

It's that time of year again when we pause and thank the wonderful teachers and staff at CMS for all that they do. Teacher's Appreciation week is May 6th- May 10th. We will once again be asking for donations of gift cards in the amount of $5 to anywhere. Some great suggestions are Target, Starbucks, 7-11, Sweet Frog, Chick-Fil-A, and Mc Donalds. The teachers really love receiving this special treat every year that we have done it. Please consider sending in your donation to the attention of Mrs. Jeremenko in the school office no later than May 3rd. We are also taking cash donations that we can purchase gift cards with too. - Mulch Sale coordinator- largest fundraiser for our CMS PTSA.
- Hospitality Chair- coordinates New Student Orientation (Ice Cream Social) and refreshments during American Education Week
- Direct Giving Chair- coordinates the tax deductible donation program and marketing directly to the CMS PTSA.
- Elite Author’s Monthly Contest Chair- coordinates monthly teacher recognized student writing submissions
- Cultural Chair- coordinate anti-bully and cyber safety presentations
- 8th Grade Dance: Parents organize the end of the year dance for 8th graders.
