a)Unno 2315 Polychlorinated Bipmenyls / PCB’S (Scrap / Old Electric Transformers).

b)Unno 3151 Polyhalogenated Biphenyls, Liquid or Polyhalogenated terphenyls, Liquid.

c)Unno 3152 Polyhalogenated Biphenyls, Solid or Polyhalogenated Terphenyls, Solid.

d)**From immediate effect, the shipment of heated operational tanks is ACCEPTABLE on all MISC container vessels.

e)Unno 1749, 1748, 2208, 2880 and under any N.O.S. entry, Calcium Hypochlorite

B.Other MISC House Rules.

1.For shipment of all IMO Class 1, the following are the requirements:

a)All import permits for carriage and discharge are to be arranged by container operator.

b)The names, address and telephone numbers of the shipper and consignee are required to be submitted to facilitate direct delivery.

c)The N.E.C. (Net-Explosion-Component) in kilos, has to be declared.

2.Carbon, animal of vegetable origin / Charcoal, non-activated / Carbon Black, Unno 1361 and Carbon, Activated / Charcoal Activated, Unno 1362 are acceptable for carriage provided:

a)That the Competent Authority of the country concerned acknowledges a weathering certificate that the said shipment of charcoal has been sufficiently weathered for shipment.

3.Unno 1381 Phosphorus, White or Yellow is restricted for carriage and are to be packaged in new steel drum. To be stowed vertically 1 tier high in a closed container.

4.Unno 3242 Azodicarbonamide is acceptable provided a dispensation certificate for the subsidiary label of IMO class 1 is granted by the competent authority of the country concerned.

C.Each booking line must ensure that all dangerous goods bookings are submitted without any restrictions for discharge and transit for all ports throughout the vessel’s voyage.

D.Due to Damietta Port Regulations, IMO Class 1 DG cargoes not accepted or Loop M.

  1. The above procedure should be done prior to loading the first vessel.

Cold Wave Containers / P / Cold Wave Container is specialized SOC (Shipper Owned Container) which contains liquefied Carbon Dioxide, (i.e. Dry Ice) to deeply freeze cargo. Due to the venting of the Carbon Dioxide during transit, these containers could potentially be dangerous if stowed below deck. NYK will prohibit these containers unless carried under an NYK bill of loading and aboard a NYK vessel. These containers will be stowed on deck to ensure safety.

Remarks:

A. NYK will accept following DG in working reefers:

1. IMO2.2 and 2.3 with no subsidiary flammable risk.

2. IMO 3 with flash point 23 degree or more

3. IMO 4 for quality purpose only, except self-reactive related substances and UN 2956, 3242, 3251

4. IMO 5.1

5. IMO 6.1/8 with no flash point below 23 degree Celsius

6. IMO 9 which does not emit flammable vapor.

7. IMO 3 with flash point below 23 degrees and DGs with flash point below 23 degrees can be acceptable in only special explosion proof reefers.

8. IMO temperatured controlled DG allowed only in dual reefer engine container, if following provided.

B. Vanning Survey - The following DG should be surveyed and a vanning survey report should be submitted.

Although Motor Vehicle is regarded as non-DG from the IMDG Code amendment 28th, NYK carriage restrictiont set as follows:

1. Fuel must be 1/4 of tank or 5 litters whichever lesser.

2. Battery must be disconnected and wiring connection must be covered with insulation.

D. Dangerous Goods in temperature control (Heating) Tank

Following documents and arrangements are required.

1. Approval letter from a competent authority authorizing the shipment

2. L/G stating that the ship's operator has no responsibility on this shipment in case of temperature control unit malfunction

3. Operation manual and require engineer's explanation onboard to crew when it is loaded.

In case temperature control unit is stopped due to malfunction and this DG becomes dangerous, it is not acceptable.

Transportation on substances that deplete the ozone layer

Specified substances regulated by “Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer” are prohibited to export / import without the related government permission.

Without a copy of export permission OR an import permission issued from the subject government, it is not acceptable on NYK vessels with immediate effect.

Heated Tank – Require:
  • L.O.I. stating that the ship operator has no responsibility in case of temperature control unit malfunction, gauge out of order, etc.
  • Copy of the tank instruction manual to be provided onboard

  • Vehicles to be braced and blocked PROPERLY to avoid shifting
  • Fuel tanks to be SECURELY closed to avoid ANY leaking (some fuel may remain in tanks/engine, up to 1/4 tank)
  • The ignition Key must not be kept in the ignition while being shipped.
  • Batteries to be secured and fastened in an upright position and protected against short circuits.
  • Signed DG document is required, proper declaration as following:
“Vehicles, Flammable Liquid Powered” Class 9, NA 3166
