Rotary Bulletin for June 27, 2011

President Ken called the meeting to order with the singing of O’ Canada, a toast to The Queen and Rotary Grace

Head Table: Pres. Ken introduced the head table for July 4, 2011 of Rot. Sheri Lynn, Guest Speaker Teresa Bell and Secretary Angie.

Pres Ken presented Past President Joan with a plaque for her outstanding leadership as President 2010/2011, plus a Past President pin.

Pres. Ken presented Service Above Self to P.P. Lionel for his extraordinary work organizing Rotary's participation at Canada Day in the Park. Also for his work in the upcoming BBQ at Bakers Island July 18th.

·  RIPP. Wilf gave $10.00 to celebrate Wawa Club’s 50th Anniversary.

Pres. Ken read a thank you card from St. Paul’s for our on going support and a thank you from Laura Shaunessy who was the recipient of this year's Rotary Club Award.

Letter of Resignation

Pres. Ken read resignation letter from Rot. Marianne Cowland who will be sorely missed.

Program

Sheri Lynn introduced our guest speaker Teresa Bell who gave us a very interesting insight into Sarcoma Cancer Awareness.

She herself is a Sarcoma survivor. She left us with an inspiring quote, "We cannot do everything, but we can do something”She requested that we all participate in her "Step and Fetch" awareness event taking place July 17th commencing at City hall at 1200 noon and ending with a BBQ at JB printing,all for free. She only wants to create more awareness for this terrible disease.

Bert Garrett thanked the guest speaker.

Calendar Draw:

None this week, but two weeks will be reported next meeting.

P.P Lionel again asked for any accommodation for the upcoming visitors from St. Catharine's. He was assured from several members that rooms would be available.

50/50 DRAW: won by Bill Oliphant who was unable to draw the 10 of spades, but did donate his supper money back to Rotary.
