General Meeting Minutes
July 13, 2009
ATTENDING:
President Watson Holyfield opened the meeting with prayer.
Watson read the July birthdays. We sang to Charlie Ruscher and Larry Martin, Myron Morrison’s son-in-law, visiting from Virginia.
Treasurer Sally Currey gave the June Treasurer’s Report. Charlie Ruscher moved it be accepted as read, Ernie Breaux seconded, all approved. Watson thanked First Baptist Church of North Channel for printing the Trumpet this time. It saved BAGMA quite a bit.
Secretary Wilma Morrison reported the Trumpet was folded by JC and Nelda Johnson, Joe and JoAnn Kotal and Myron Morrison at the Kotal’s house. JC mailed it on Friday, July 3rd and many received them on Monday July 6th.
Vice President Joe Kotal reported a very good showcase in June and that the July showcase will be this Saturday at Eminence Baptist Church in Liberty/Anahuac with Voices of Praise as Host.
Prayer requests were given for Mary Duggins scheduled for surgery, Josh Walker not feeling well, Jim Dial has been in the hospital and is home but very weak, more testing coming up, Ray Friend is in the VA Hospital, blue area room 248 and should be going home soon, Joe Kotal is almost 100% now, Rev. Kolbe’s wife passed away (Pastor at Imperial Valley Assembly of God), Rick Colson having Cancer tests today at MD Anderson, Micah and the Dann’s still need prayer, Watson Holyfield lost his job of 22 years but the Lord had another one ready for him, Pat Kotal has a second interview coming up, Barbara Martin gave a praise report on Dustin, her grandson (Myron’s great-grandson) who is responding well to Cancer treatments and on a Make a wish trip to Hawaii, swimming with the turtles! Joe Kotal prayed for these.
Watson reported the Board is working on revising the By-laws. They should be ready for presentation at the August meeting.
Watson reported we had a great time at the BAGMA Picnic with around 70 attending. He thanked Tootsie Dann, Donna Walker and First Baptist Church North Channel for their efforts.
Watson announced we will have a Silent Auction at the 2010 Spring Singing Convention to raise funds for our 20th year celebration, June 26, 2010. Items are now being solicited from various businesses. Watson and Debbie Holyfield are heading this up. The anniversary celebration will be held at the Chiropractic College in Pasadena on Spencer near Beltway 8.
Ernie Breaux gave tonight’s mini concert. He sang a patriotic medley; “He’d Have To Walk Through The Blood”; “In My Robe Of White”; “Sheltered In The Arms Of God”; and “Look For Me At Jesus’ Feet”.
Pastor Ken Durham arrived late and reported Ray Friend had gone home from the hospital. Announcements were made: The Martin Family of Orange will be at New Journey Church Thursday night; Crossing Jordan will sing again at Cornbread’s Restaurant on Underwood on Tuesday night, July 28th from 6 to 8.
Watson thanked our waitress Ms. Ellie for her service.
Ernie Breaux lead our theme song “Standing On The Solid Rock”.
Ray Walker dismissed in prayer.
