Thiscourse willprovidecreditfor supervisedpracticalexperiencesinanoccupationalareaofinterest.Inadditiontothework-related

activity,studentswillcompletereflectiveandcareerdevelopmentassignments,as wellascreateawebportfolioofinternship accomplishments.Credithourswillbeassigneda lettergradeA-F(+/-).Hoursofcreditrecorded(1-5)arebasedonnumberofhours atyourinternshipsiteandagreementofinstructor.Prerequisites:consentofinstructor,securedinternship

InternshipPurpose

Internshipsrepresenta learningstrategythatintegratespracticalworkexperiencewitha directed,reflective,academiccomponentto

helpdeveloppersonalandacademiccompetencies.Study,reasoning,reflection,theoreticaland/orconceptualexploration complement theworkexperienceto helpdevelopnewskillsandknowledge.Aprimaryandfundamentalobjectiveoftheinternshipcourseisto helpstudentsdevelopthecompetencyof self-directedlearning.Self-directedlearningrequiresself-motivationandinterest.Multiple supportsystemshavebeendevelopedtoassiststudentsinthislearningendeavor.

Requirements

Studentsmust workaminimumof8hoursperweekasanintern(Thiscanearnyou1-3credits/15+hoursperweekcanearnyou1-

5 credits)—the more credits, the more tuition but the coursework stays the same.

Inaddition:

  • Ifapplicable,receivepermissiontoenrollin4-5credits,and youMUSTselectthenumberofcreditsinwhichyouare enrollingwhenyouenrollinEnrollPay,asit willdefaultto1 credit.
  • The firstweekofclassyou willneedtocompletethe signaturedocumentinBlackboardandtheinternshipinformationform.
  • You musthaveaccesstoreliableinternet,email,andawebcamthroughoutthe semestertocompletethecoursework. If you do notfeelyou willhavetheseresources,you willneedtodropthecourse.
