SECTION 4 – GENERAL BUSINESS
4.1 ORIENTATION WEEK – 20/2/17

Following from Cathy’s meeting with Kerrie Garnsey and JanezZagoda, Janez will be on campus to do a BBQ. Janez will organise all the food necessary for the BBQ, including salads. Janez will also be organising entertainment, who will be in the courtyard if fine or indoors if wet. TUU/SRC will be providing an information table and brochure stand at the Orientation Expo. SRC reps will be present and handing out promotional giveaways, such as student diaries and USB sticks. Both the BBQ area and Expo table will be manned by SRC CCC reps at all times. SRC reps will also be running a promotional competition to encourage students to like/follow the SRC CCC Facebook page. There will be two prizes, randomly drawn, of $50 each in the form of either printing credit or a coffee voucher/s for the on-campus cafe

4.2 WELCOME WEEK – 27/2/17

Monday 27th February – The theme for Welcome Week is the Jungle. TUU/SRC will be putting on pizza for lunch. Kerrie will order the pizzas. The info table and brochure stand will be in place and manned by SRC reps. The Facebook promotion will continue.

Wednesday 1st March – Market Day. Janez will be organising the BBQ, salads and entertainment for Market Day. TUU/SRC info table will again be in place. St Vincent de Paul’s stalls, organised by Janez, will be in the courtyard if the weather is fine (indoors if wet). The Facebook promotion will continue.

4.3 STUDENT TEXTBOOK SALE

Davina and Kerrie to handle the TUU second-hand book sale.

4.4 MARKET DAY – 1/3/17

4.5 SRC STUDENT DROP-IN CRADLE COAST

Although Davina is waiting to hear back from Julie Strickland regarding the UTAS policy on such a drop-in, it has been decided to go ahead and create a Standards of Practice document and a visitor form template. Davina will undertake the creation of both in conjunction with Kerrie.

4.6 ACTION LIST

4.6.1 COMMUNITY SERVICE PROVIDERS

The SRC CCC to invite, once per semester, a community service provider such as Women’s legal services or Tenants Union of Tasmania, to the campus to provide information and support for common issues student face off campus

4.6.2 BOARD GAMES

4.6.3 REFRESHMENT & BREAKFAST CENTRE

To make available to students, as part of the TUU/SRC-funded refreshment centre that is already in place, a simple breakfast bar. The breakfasts offered will be basic cereals, cornflakes and/or wheat biscuits. Biodegradable bowls and spoons will also be provided. We will also approach the on-campus café regarding providing milk for the breakfast centre on a monthly invoicing system

-Following on from the success of the refreshment centre which supports students with refreshment supplies of tea coffee and Milo, sugar. Particularly after hours and weekends and those who can’t afford multiple coffees from the cafeteria. We would also like to expand it to include some basic breakfast supplies to help students to study on a full stomach. A good meal at the start of the day will aid their concentration levels and allow them to engage better with their studies.

4.6.4 COUCH FOR TUU OFFICE SPACE

To purchase a comfortable 3-seater couch for the TUU office space. The low table in the office to be raffled off to make more space in the office. To enquire if there is any spare storage space available for the TUU/SRC items that would allow SRC personnel access out of TUU office hours, or in the event that the TUU staff are unavailable.

4.7 OTHER BUSINESS

4.7.1 SRC CCC FACEBOOK POSTS

If possible to present SRC CCC rep profiles. A post regarding the recent purchase of 10 outdoor beanbags for the campus courtyard. Posts regarding upcoming events. Finding a signature slogan for the Facebook page.

4.7.2 SRC CCC REPRESENTATIVES POSTER

To create a new poster identifying the current SRC CCC reps. Photos of the reps to be colour. The State Council reps to have a new poster also.

4.7.3 VISITS BY STATE COUNCIL TO THE CRADLE COAST CAMPUS

To offer a “Meet the State Council” event, such as an afternoon tea, to enable the student body to meet the State representatives.

4.7.4 FEBRUARY STATE COUNCIL VISIT – VIDEO CONFERENCING

Davina wanted to know if there would be the requirement for video conferencing during the visit of the State Council on 21st February and would she be required to make these arrangements.

4.7.5 RESIGNATION OF WELFARE OFFICER

SRC CCC Welfare Officer, Lee Doran, tendered her resignation on 6th February. It has come to out attention that there is currently no SRC Welfare Officer at campus level for UTAS. Cathy is looking into finding a student to fill the post of Welfare Officer in the interim until the by-election.

4.7.6 POST GRAD OFFICER

The position of Post Grad Officer is also vacant. Cathy will speak with Clayton Hawkins for suggestions on possible candidates.

4.7.8 MOTION FOR STATE AND STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE COUNCILS ALLOWANCES FOR ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL EXPENSES

Motion that the expenses allocated or refunded for accommodation and meals be capped at the amount set for the above at the Student Representative Council’s Induction on the 9th – 11th of November 2016.

4.7.9 HARMONY DAY – 21st MARCH 2017

The creation of a poster or flyers to encourage all students to provide examples of their cultural identity to share with other students on Harmony Day. Cultural identity may be shared in many forms, such as songs, dance, myths and folk tales, recipes and personal stories of their cultures from students, their parents of their favourite authors. Although the 21st is the official date for Harmony Day, the event may be held on a different day of that week to allow the maximum attendance by the greatest number of students on campus. Food will be provided on the day by the SRC (sushi) and Janez, on behalf of the TUU, in the form of a fried noodle dish. The on-campus representative of Riawanna will be approached regarding other ideas for cultural events.
