LeBECK “RISE UP” SCHOLARSHIP
The Sutter Yuba Community Foundation invites applicants to apply for a scholarship to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. This is a $1,000.00 award to be granted to a graduating high school senior from Yuba City High School, River Valley HighSchool, Albert Powell High School, or Feather River Academy. Adults who attended one of these schools and hold a GED or HSET also qualify. This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant donated by Steven and Gayle LeBeck.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must 1) be a graduating senior one of the high schoolslisted above or adults who attended one of these schools and hold a GED or HSET, 2) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall, and 3) show that, despite obstacles, student has the drive and perseverance to strive for further education and a better life. Obstacles might be such issues as a difficult family life, extreme poverty or homelessness, or a learning disability.

YOU MUST FORWARD THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WITH THIS APPLICATION:
(1) TWO LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Please submit two letters of recommendation, giving information about your character, ability to achieve the educational goal, ambition, and financial needs. Letters from the principal, vice-principal, attendance supervisor, counselor or teacher are preferred.
(2) TRANSCRIPT
Include a copy of your high school transcripts.
(3) ESSAY
Type or write legibly an essay regarding your educational and career goals (approximately one page double-spaced). Include reasons for your choice of school, area of major and a statement of how any scholarship funds received would be used in reaching your stated goals.Clearly state 1) your personal financial responsibility and your family’s ability to assist financially in your education, and 2) the obstacles you have overcome to be ready to attend college.
(4) A RESUME including all extra curricular and co-curricular activities for the past 4 years,
broken down by year. Include employment, community service, sports, awards, and leadership positions.
(5) A COPY OF THIS COMPLETED APPLICATION
