To New Horizons
We would like to congratulate the outgoing president, Prof. Imran Akram Sahaf and the General Secretary, Brig. Dr. Mohammad Waseem, for a highly successful term. With their efforts, the Pakistan Oculoplastic Association, crossed national borders and was represented in the WOC Congress, Abudhabi, UAE, 15 – 20th Feb 2012.
We would also like to congratulate the present General Secretary, Dr. Sameera Irfan, for representing Pakistan at the EYE ADVANCE 2012 Meeting of Bombay Ophthalmological Association where she has been selected as a Faculty Member permanently. She has also been selected as a Life Member of Oculoplastic Association, India (OPAI) and is representing Pakistanin the up-coming OPAI Meeting in Amritsar, 26thOctober 2012.
The present team hasdecided to take the Oculoplastic Society to new horizons. In this respect, we are starting an on-line journal, Journal of Oculoplastic Surgery, Pakistan. Initially, it will be an on-line journal but soon will have it printed as well and get it recognized by the Pakistan Medical Dental Council. This will be concurrent with the other activities like seminars, symposia, workshops, conferences and dissemination of knowledge pertinent to our field.

The on-line journal is aimed at dissemination of latest knowledge in the specialty of oculoplastics & Strabismus. It will include up-dates on current oculoplastic issues, management protocols on common problems like dry eye, watery eye, trachoma, meibomitis, blepharitis etc.
We would like to make it interactive; we would welcome any comments / suggestions / case discussions by the general ophthalmologists, PG trainees and would invite senior oculoplastic surgeons to answer their queries.
We would also like to start a CME series as a part of the on-line journal.
We would welcome an active participation by our trainees and colleagues to send interesting case-reports, case series, letter to the editor and research papers. We would try our best to be indexed by the Pub Med.
