The Center for AIDS Research at Emory is home to five science cores that provide investigators with research support on a “fee for service basis” through the Service Center arm of each Core. Each CFAR Service Center is briefly described below. You may use this form to request support from multiple service centers. The request will be triaged by the CFAR Administrative Core and sent to the appropriate service center manager(s) for evaluation.
Check all service centers relevant to your project.
☐Biostatistics (Lyles)
Through consulting, statistical analysis, biomedical informatics, and specific training, the service center can strengthen the statistical rigor of HIV/AIDS-related research and the investigators’ capacity to mine biodata from multiple sources. Core services are designed to increase CFAR investigators’ ability to submit fundable applications, conduct innovative studies, and successfully publish their results.
☐Clinical Research (Lennox/Ofotokun)
Through consulting, clinical trial design, access to research space and shared equipment, biological specimens, training, and community engagement support, the service center can help facilitate the design and implementation of studies that improve knowledge about, prevention of, and treatment for, HIV infection in humans. The service center also offers access to the CFAR Specimen Repository, a boutique repository housing samples from various stages of HIV infection, elite and viremic controllers, co-infected samples (including Acute Hep B and Hep C), and treatment status samples.
☐Immunology (Altman)
Through access to equipment, including Elispot, FACS Calibur, LSR-IIs, FACS Aria Cell Sorter, Flow Cytometry, multi-color phenotyping and cytokine, tetramer titration, consulting, and training the service center supports the assessment of immunological function necessary for the study of the pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of immunodeficiency virus infections in humans and non-human primates.
☐Prevention Science (Sullivan/Cooper)
Through consultation, training, and access to equipment, the service center provides support for the use of measurement technologies in the conduct of qualitative and behavioral research in developing theory-based HIV/AIDS interventions.
☐Pre-Clinical Virology(Vanderford)
The Service Center provides a broad spectrum of virological and gene expression assays for investigators studying SIV/SHIV infection in nonhuman primates (NHP).
☐Clinical Virology (Kraft)
The Service Center provides HIV viral load quantification and assays related to HIV-associated diseases in humans.
Please provide us with some basic information regarding yourself and your project. This will enable us to ensure that your request reaches the most appropriate service center(s).
