SUPPLIERS OF ILLEGAL FIRE ARMS ARRESTED

SEVEN SOPHISTICATED PISTOLS OF VARIOUS CALIBER RECOVERED

With the arrest of three illegal arms suppliers namely (1) Satender @Bona s/o Mukhtiar R/o Vill- Manpur PS Tappal Distt. Aligarh,UP.(Aged 27 Yrs.) (2) Shaurabh Sharma S/o Ram Parkash Sharma R/o Flat No-39-D, Dilshad Garden,Delhi.(Aged 25 Yrs) and (3) Mohd. Iqbal S/o Maqbool Ahmed S/o Village Hirday Pur, PS- Hafiz Pur, Distt. Hapur, UP. (Aged 45 Yrs.), staff of PS Swaroop Nagar has busted a gang of suppliers of illegal fire arms in NCR and Delhi and recovered seven pistols of various caliber and one stolen M/Cycle .

INCIDENT

In the wake of increasing incidents of use of illegal fire arms in Delhi ,a police team comprising of SI Govind, SI Anil Kumar,HC Praveen, Ct. Mahesh,Ct. Baljit, Ct. Anand, Ct. Attar and Ct. Ramesh under the leadership of Inspr. Jitender Singh, SHO/Swaroop Nagar and under the overall supervision of Sh. Sh. Virender Kumar, ACP/Jahangir Puri, Delhi was formed to develop information. On receiving a secret information on 02.01.13, the police team apprehended one person namely Satender @Bona and recovered a .32 bore country made improvised pistol with four live cartridges when he came to deliver the pistol in the area of PS Swaroop Nagar on a stolen m/cycle. Hence a case was registered vide FIR No. 02/2013 dated 02/01/2013 U/s 25 A act PS Swaroop Nagar. On sustained interrogation he disclosed the source of supply of illegal arms and subsequently one Shaurabh Sharma and Mohd. Iqbal were arrested vide FIR No. 05/2013 U/s 25 Arms act dated 03/01/2013 PS Swaroop Nagar and FIR No. 07/2013 U/s 25 Arms act dated 04/01/2013 PS Swaroop Nagar and six more country made improvised pistols along with 20 live cartridges were recovered.

Cricket betting syndicate busted during the match between India and Pakistan during India v/s Pakistan ODI series 2012-2013

Betting amount approx. Rs. 1 Crores.

Two persons arrested.

LCD TV, 8 mobile phones, 1 laptop, 1 Calculator, etc. seized.

The AATS/North District Police has busted a betting racket operating during India v/s Pakistan ODI Series 2012-2013 cricket match between India and Pakistan at House No. 10730, Gali No. 13, Pratap Nagar, Delhi-7.

Information was received by Insp. Shalender Tomar AATS/North that there will be betting on India v/s Pakistan Series 2012 cricket match and the betting syndicate is operational from H. No. 10730, Gali No.13, Pratap Nagar, Delhi. The information was further developed and on 6/01/2013, while the cricket match between India and Pakistan was on, specific information was received that bets are being accepted at H. No. 10730, Gali No.13, Pratap Nagar, Delhi. A dedicated team headed by Insp. Shalender Tomar and consisting of HC Satish Patil, HC Khushal Singh, Ct. Amit Sharma, Ct. Ansar Khan and Ct. Amit Malik under the overall supervision of ACP/Operations was formed. After observing all the legal formalities raid was conducted.

During raid, 2 persons identified as Ashwani Kumar s/o R.S. Gandhi r/o M-39, Pratap Nagar, Delhi, age-40 years and Akshay Chadha s/o Parvesh Chadha r/o M-61, Pratap Nagar, Delhi-7, age-18 years were apprehended from House No. 10730, Gali No. 13, Pratap Nagar, Delhi-7. 8 mobile phones, one LCD T.V., 1 Laptop, 1 Calculator etc. were recovered. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 4/13 dated 06.01.2013 u/s 3, 4, 5, 9, 55 D.P.G. Act PS Gulabi Bagh was registered.

Two mobile phones were being used as “Dabbas (Voice Hot Line Box)” for receiving the rates apart from other mobile phones used for accepting bets. . The match summary report of total betting till the time of the raid was found appox. Rs. 1 crores.

  1. Ashwani Kumar s/o R.S. Gandhi r/o M-39, Pratap Nagar, Delhi, age-40 years is a graduate. Before indulging in cricket betting he was working in a multi national company and used to visit the General Store shop of his father. He likes to lead a lavish life and for this he started running betting racket.
  1. Akshay Chadha s/o Parvesh Chadha r/o M-61, Pratap Nagar, Delhi-7, age-18 years has studied upto 9th class. He is unemployed and was looking for a job. He came in contact with Ashwani Kumar and other bookies and got in to cricket betting and started operating satta rackets.

A GANG OF PICKPOCKETS BUSTED : TWO FEMALE PICK-POCKETS ARRESTED

The staff of PS Sarojini Nagar have arrested two female pock-pockets namely Manju (age 45 years)w/o Daleep r/o. Jhuggi near Ghodewala Mandir, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi and Arti (25 years) w/o Mukesh r/o Jhuggi near Ghodewala Mandir, Raghubir Nagar, Delhi, who were operating in the Sarojini Nagar Market.

BRIEF FACTS :

There had been instances of pick-pocketing in the Sarojini Nagar Market on weekends and holidays in which the mobile phones and small purse had been reported to be stolen. To curb such incidents, informers in plain clothes were deployed all over the market to keep close watch over the activities of suspicious women moving around.

On 6th January 2013, Ms. Aneban Stephens w/o Mr. Stephen Mathew r/o. D-57, Phase- IV, Aya Nagar Extension, New Delhi had come to Sarojini Nagar Market for shopping along with her husband and daughter. While they were having juice from a Juice Shop in Sarojini Nagar, two women opened the zip of the shoulder bag of the complainant and pick-pocketed Rs. 5,000/-. Subhash Gupta an informer deployed in plain clothes noticed the two women committing the act and brought the fact to the notice of the complainant. The complainant raised an alarm and Ct. Dharam Singh No. 2140/SD, Beat Officer of the Sarojini Nagar Market, immediately responded and apprehended the two women. The personal searches of the two women on the spot by the complainant led to recovery of Rs. 5,000/- from the possession of the lady accused. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 3/13 dated 06.01.2013 u/s. 379, 411, 34 IPC, P.S. Sarojini Nagar, Delhi was registered on the statement of the complainant and both the lady accused were arrested.

MODUS OPERANDI:

During interrogation, it was revealed that accused Manju was running a gang of pickpockets, operating in the busy markets. She is the kingpin of the gang. The gang used to target the people in the busy markets such as Sarojini Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, etc. on the weekends. They used to steal purses and mobile phones from the bags of the victims. It was also revealed that these ladies used to involve minor children also in their criminal activities so that nobody could suspect them. The minors used to jostle around the victims to divert their attention and the kingpin and her associates would steal by inflicting a cut in the bags by a small blade being carried by them in their fingers.
