Trip of Mr. Rumy Mohta to India with the Governor of Virginia, Mark Warner

Here is a brief review of the recent trip of Mr. Rumy Mohta, President of Richmond Travels, to India with the Gov. of Virginia, Hon. Mark Warner.

Mr. Rumy was one of the lucky ones invited to join the Gov. Hon. Mark Warner on this trip. In the last 3 years, this was the first trade delegation to India led by a Governor. As of date, this trade mission was the largest one ever to go to India, 65 people total. Mr. Rumy’s goal for joining this mission was to support the Governor on his trip, augment his businesses, meet different business owners, and make new contacts.

Virginiahas the 2nd largest growing economy in the country and India is the largest democracy in the world. The Gov. pointed out during his trip that trade in the last 2 years alone, between India & Virginia has grown in double digits. The purpose of thistrade mission was to increase it even further and in that the mission succeeded. The trade mission visited Delhi, Bangalore & Bombay. In each city, there was genuine enthusiasm from the Indian companies to do business with Virginia and the US. They were hosted by FICCI in each city and the Governor made a presentation at all events.

In Bombay, they attended the receptionat the JW Marriott in conjunction with Bollywood people hosted by USIBA (US-India Business Alliance). At this event, the Governor made the case for Indian film companies to produce their films in Virginia and at least 4 producers showed an interest. The delegates were also invited to the Consul General's house for dinner in Bombay and it gave them an opportunity to meet the consul staff.

For almost all the people on the trade mission they were going to India for the first time and were awed by its beauty and rich culture as they toured in Delhi and other cities. All in all, this trip turned out to be better than people expected as every event was well attended and fruitful for all. This shows that inspite of modern advances a simple trip or meeting in person bears more fruit.
