Database Administrator

Summary

The Database Administrator plays an integral role in the Development and Marketing Department. Maintaining the integrity of our Raiser’s Edge and Research Point databases is critical to the success of fundraising, volunteer and membership programs. Understanding the structure and complex relationships within these databases while also understanding development principles and goals as well as financial, membership, and volunteer procedures require unique abilities that place this position at the center of all department activities.

Essential Functions

·  Enters and maintains prospect, donor, volunteer, member and staff information in Raiser’s Edge database in an accurate and timely manner; data-entry management includes, but is not limited to, restricted and unrestricted private donations, corporate sponsorships, grants, special event donations and sales, matching gifts, soft credits, recurring gifts and pledges, Lifelong Learning and Fitness Center memberships and renewals, memorial and honorarium gifts, in-kind donations, donations made via PayPal, and advertisement payments.

·  Creates and updates electronic reports, queries, mail merges and listings, donor profiles and honor rolls, membership directories, and volunteer and House of Welcome lists.

·  Trains all North Shore Senior Center staff members who need to use Raisers Edge and/or Research Point to perform their job responsibilities.

·  Ensures integrity of the system through conformance to all established policies and procedures including those related to the verification and audit of data entered as well as those regulating a data clean-up process.

·  Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

·  Bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, fundraising, public health administration, human services, or related field is preferred

·  Minimum of three years of demonstrated expertise using Raiser’s Edge, including an understanding of the Membership, Tributes, Volunteer, and Events modules is required

·  Demonstrated expertise using the Microsoft Office suite of programs

·  Maintain accuracy while performing repetitive tasks for an extended period of time

·  Work independently

·  Prioritize work and complete varied tasks in a fast-paced environment

·  Identify and understand the underlying need when information, reports or other outputs are requested to determine the most efficient and appropriate way to meet the desired goal

·  Successfully work with individuals at all levels in the organization possessing varying personalities and work styles

·  Effectively communicate technical information, system constraints and procedures verbally and in writing to individuals with varying levels of technical and fundraising knowledge

·  Coordinate projects between departments that requires creating and adhering to timelines, influencing others and fostering cooperation

·  Be discrete while working with highly confidential and personal information

·  Work extended hours to meet deadlines and assist with events both during and after regular work hours
