In this lesson, students are challenged with explaining the consequences of illegal and unethical use of technology.

Learning Objective(s): The students will:

  2. Define copyright laws and policies.

Procedures/Activities:
Teacher Information: Note, modules developed by the Goodwill Community Foundation, GCF LearnFree website have been cited as resources and teachers are encouraged to print GCF LearnFree modules as needed when computer access will not be available.
  1. The teacher may also refer to which is a site dedicated to Digital Citizenship. The teacher is encouraged to utilize activities and resources from this site per their instructional timeline and student population.
  2. Distribute Assignment #1: Spelling Test Nightmare and have students complete the assignment. Discuss student responses to the questions included in the assignment.
  3. Students are to read Handout #1: Cyberbullying and Cyber Harassment and discuss major topics addressed in the handout.
  4. Distribute Handout #2: Avoiding Plagiarism and have students discuss major topics addressed in the handout
  5. Students are to read the Nine Themes of Digital Citizenship located at pair and share and answer the following question. Can the nine elements be taught to student at their school with student buy in? Students are to store their answers in Edmodo Back Pack, Google Docs and or a flash drive.
