RESOLUTION NO. 9-17
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF LAURELAPPROVING AN ANNEXATIONAGREEMENT WITH STRITTMATTER CONTEE, LLC,FOR THE ANNEXATION OF 32.68+/- ACRES OF LAND KNOWN AS 7041 AND 7051 CONTEE ROAD, LAUREL, MD,INTO THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN THE AGREEMENT.
WHEREAS, Strittmatter Contee, LLC, the owner of Parcel 146 shown on Prince George's County Tax Map 05, with a premise address of 7041 Contee Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707, and Parcel 148 shown on Prince George’s County Tax Map 05, with a premise address of 7051 Contee Road, Laurel, Maryland 20707 (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Properties”), submitted a Petition for Annexation of the Properties to the Mayor and City Council of Laurel (the “City”); and
WHEREAS, the City, a municipal corporation of the State of Maryland, desires to enlarge and extend the corporate limits of the City to include the Properties that are situated in Prince George's County, contiguous to and adjoining the City, in accordance with the procedures set forth in Maryland Code Annotated., Local Government Article, Title 4, Subtitle 4;and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforesaid provisions of State law, the City is required to develop complete and detailed provisions concerning the conditions and circumstances applicable to the change in boundaries as to the residents and property within the area proposed for annexation; and
WHEREAS,Strittmatter Contee, LLC has reached agreement with the City of Laurel as to the particular circumstances that will govern the proposed change in boundaries, which Agreement is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and City Council of Laurel in legislative session assembled that:
Section 1.The terms and conditions embodied in the Annexation Agreement attached hereto as Exhibit "A" are in the public interest and will benefit the City of Laurel and the property proposed for annexation. Accordingly, the Annexation Agreement is hereby approved.
Section 2.The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the Annexation Agreement appended hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3.The Annexation Agreement hereby authorized for execution will be incorporated into and become a part of the Annexation Resolution for the extension of the geographical boundaries described in the Agreement at such time as a Resolution initiating the annexation of such geographical areas is introduced by the Mayor and City Council of Laurel, Maryland.
