Table S1:Summary data for the 25 most important tree species and 16 most important plant families in terms of total above-ground woody biomass (TAGB) of HPC-forest. The table summarizes data on tree presence (frequency) and average density on plots; TAGB in absolute and relative terms, and its relative distribution among vegetation types; average AGB; and wood density (WD, as indicated by literature; ♠ denotes a slow-growing tree, ↑ a fast-growing tree, cf. FIPI 1999). In addition, summaries of regression models indicate 1.) the percentage of variability (as by adjusted R2)of TAGB explained by additive biomass of the first, second, third, etc. most important tree species/family, 2.) significance by the model coefficient T-value (number) and p-value (i.e. p<0.05*, p<0.005**, and p<0.0005***) of a full regression model (including all trees/families) or 3.) the best subsets regression models (including only selected relevant trees/families as predictors of TAGB).
