Greetings Fellow AB’s around the world!
It my pleasure to have been elected president of this fantastic organization! Thank you to the Tidewater Chapter for a successful Aviation Boatswains Mate Professional Working group this year, we look forward to the same success for next year’s working group held in San Diego.
Your continued support and promotion of this organization to our new Sailors is critical to ensure our future success. I would ask everyone to continue to recruit, train, and mentor your relief as well as share the benefits of the ABMA. Our website is currently being upgraded to allow a more user friendly and updated platform that is more informative and useful. This will allow us to share the progress our organization in making.
Join me in extending hearty congratulations to our newly selected Chief Warrant Officers:
CWO3 Dorian Fair

CWO3 Robert Ruggiero
CWO4 Sang Lee
CWO4 Christopher Smith

Greetings Fellow AB’s;
I hope this Newsletter is finding you and your family in the very best of health and doing quite well!
First I must say a heart-felt “Well Done” to the AB’s of the Tidewater Chapter for the superb job they did coordinating the 2015 ABMA Professional Working Group in Portsmouth, Virginia! I had a great time there and everything went very smooth. The Sailors from the host commands were very professional and did an absolutely awesome job! Looking forward to another awesome event in 2017 in the Tidewater area.
I want to congratulate the Mid-South Chapter for the awesome job they did putting the Inaugural ABMA Summer Jam together! The Summer Jamboree was the 17th-19th of July at the Navy lakes and Picnic area at the Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, TN. I heard everyone had a great time there and it was a big success.
I would also like to congratulate the Jacksonville Chapter for the awesome job they did putting the Fall Jam together! The Fall Jamboree was the 15th -18th of October at Grassy Pond in Lake Park, GA. Also a lot of great comments from those that attended and another big success.
I know the AB’s of the San Diego Chapter have been extremely busy getting things ready for next year’s Professional Working Group Conference in San Diego, California. They did a superb job in 2014 and I’m sure they will do another awesome job in 2016. As it stands right now the 2016 Professional Working Group is tentatively scheduled to be at the Handlery Hotel on August 8-12, 2016. More information will be posted in the 2016 Spring Newsletter on the upcoming ABMA Professional Working Group, formerly called ABMA Symposium. I look forward to seeing everyone there in 2016.
For all ABMA Chapters: Please forward me a list of all your officers and their contact information including address, phone number and email address whenever you have your elections. You can contact me at (619) 578-1523 or email . Also I will need a copy of your chapter’s By-Laws, if I do not already have them and if you make any changes to your By-Laws. If you’re not sure if I have the information on your chapter, please feel free to contact me. Thank you!
Let’s continue to bring in the junior AB’s and get them involved.
Keep your head on a swivel and stay safe! Have a very safe and enjoyable holiday season! God bless each and every one of you and may God bless America!
A Fellow AB;
Doug Thornton
Secretary/Public Affairs Officer/Historian/ABMA BOD Life Member
Greetings from Jacksonville;
On behalf of the Jacksonville Chapter we wish to congratulate LT Lewis and all newly elected officers and board members. We wish you all the best in leading this Association through 2015/2016. And a well done to the Tidewater Chapter in hosting this year’s Working Group.
The major renovations and improvements continue on schedule at Mayport and NAS JAX. The local chapter welcomes all new arrivals to the area, and appreciates the increase in active duty interest and involvement and ultimately an increase in membership recruitment.
Until next time
Make a Ready Deck
Michael J. Rotes
Greetings from Mid-South Chapter,
We would like to congratulate our newly elected national President LT Brian Lewis and all elected Officers and wish them well in the up-coming year, and to the Tidewater Chapter for an outstanding and productive working group/symposium.
We would also like to congratulate Daniel Barbiero with his selection to Chief Petty Officer.
Overall, our Chapter is doing well. We hosted our Inaugural Mid-South Summer Jam which was a success! The event had over 200 local military and civilian members over the two day event. We are now looking forward to the 2016 Summer Jam which we expect to be even bigger than the 2015 event.
Finally, we would like to welcome the newest additions to the team. ABHC James Williams, Aviation Placement Specialist and ABF1 Kaseem Fletcher, ABF E1-E6 Detailer.
We would like to thank everyone for your continued support.
S. Williams, President Mid-South Chapter
AB’S DON’T LET AB’S DRINK AND DRIVE !
This past year NAS Key West established the Southernmost ABMA. One thing we noticed was our AB's have been bringing that high tempo flight deck work ethic down here to Key West and easily breaking out in this Command. We wanted to establish the Southernmost ABMA to be able to recognize these Sailors on a much greater scale, despite the stereotype throughout the fleet. Some of our accomplishments this year is safe handling of 1,386 aircraft, 12,811 passengers, 845,056 pounds of cargo, and safe arrestment of 26 emergency aircraft, in support of war-fighter training resulting in well over 120 sorties a day . Being on an island that is only 4 miles by 2 miles, the military and community are extremely close. We have completed two separate fundraisers within the community which generated enough funds to get our chapter moving in the right direction. Last week one of our AB's, ABH2 (AW/SW) Ronald Lewis, was recognized as NAS Key West's Junior Sailor of the Year and ABH1 (AW/SW) William Thompson was selected as NAS Key West's AB of the year.
What to look forward to in the coming months? We are regrouping after the holidays to continue to raise funds to be able to select and recognize our AB's of the year and send them to the Symposium in 2016. Some Comrels at the local schools and possibly adopting a section of highway. We are also going to participate with the Wounded Warriors project next year. We would eventually like to be able to sponsor an AB symposium here in Key West. There is plenty of ways for us to give back to the community and we will.
Very Respectfully
ABHCS (AW/SW) THOMAS, ANTHONY A Sr

¡Saludos desde España! (Greetings from Spain). It has been a very productive past summer and fall. AB's have participated in three multinational European theater exercises, provided support service to 1,610 aircraft and 21,712 passengers, and conducted four joint intermodal events, encompassing the USTRANSCOM directed Air - Sea movement of 256 DoD aircraft in theater for Operation Resolute Resolve. We hosted Naval Safety Center for an Airfield Operations visit and completed another flawless E-28 arresting gear certification.
We said farewell to LT Ryan Patrick, ABHC Dexter Yarde, ABH1 Della Smith, ABH1 Steven Phankonkham, ABF1 Luis Valenzuela, ABE2 Nivek Funes, ABH2 Heather Young, ABF2 Dexter Terry, ABF2 Annais Clark, ABF2 Arron Johnson, ABF2 Fabiola Oropeza, ABF2 Emanuel Correa, ABH2 Neil Ferrer, ABH2 Aristotle Alipoon ABF3 Diedrech Sitriano and gave a "Enorme español Bienvenido" (Huge Spanish Welcome) to LT James Dignan, ABH1 Hector Correa, ABH1 April Duncan, ABH1 Evan Pinkston, ABF2 Emanuel Torresreyes, ABF2 Sabrina Mosley (2015 ABMA RPM LEADERSHIP AWARD RECIPIENT), ABF3 Terrance Alexander, ABF3 Raymond Roper, ABH2 Vincent Prosapio, ABH2 Gary Armstrong. Congratulations to ABH3 Angel Gomez for his recent promotion.
In October Rota Chapter held elections and is pleased to announce our new cabinet members: President: ABH2 Piotrowski, Vice President: ABH2 Lemus, Secretary/PAO: ABH1 Duncan, Treasurer/Merchandising: ABF2 Mosley. BZ to all the AB's! Additionally AB's have been in the community supporting an aggressive fire safety awareness campaign and collaborated with NAVSTA Rota Fire Dept for a spectacular 2015 Rota "Trunk-or-Treat" event. We are looking forward to the holiday season and would like to send well wishes to all the AB's and their Families around the world. Keep 'em Safe!
