Act now to save our credit union, and the benefits YOU reap as a member!
The more you use a not-for-profit credit union, the more you benefit. But you might lose ALL of the benefits you enjoy at (NAME) Credit Union unless Congress hears loud and clear from members like you that you want us protected as part of federal tax reforms.
Members also receive higher returns on savings and lower and fewer fees than they would have earned or paid by doing their financial business with a bank.
Credit union members quickly discover: To know a credit union is to love a credit union.
But, these financial benefitsare only an average (about $6 billion in savings spread among 96 million credit union members nationwide).
Loyal members – those who use the credit union and its services extensively – often realize total financial benefits that are even greater than the average.
And they consistently rate credit unions tops in service and satisfaction.
If the savings and service you enjoy at (NAME) Credit Union is important to you, please take a moment to ask Congress to preserve credit unions' tax status as part of tax reforms occurring now. Without that, you could lose the many benefits you enjoy.

A not-for-profit credit union is all about providing great financial services to its members. That’s its sole purpose, distinguishing a credit union from other financial institutions, particularly a bank. A bank’s first priority is to maximize shareholders’ profits – from the rates and fees charged to its customers for loans and services. But you might lose ALL of the benefits you enjoy at (NAME) Credit Union unless Congress hears loud and clear from members like you that you want us protected as part of federal tax reforms.
A credit union – not-for-profit and owned by its members– typically offers lower rates on loans, higher returns on savings and lower or fewer fees for services. A credit union can do that because its emphasis is on providing financial services to members at reasonable costs and returns – not by amassing profits from them.
By making financial services more affordable, a credit union helps you reach your goals and improve your financial well-being.
You might saya bank uses people to make money – but a credit union uses money to help people.

Our credit union pays every tax banks pay except one: the corporate income tax. And that'sbecause all credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives that are owned by their members, consumers like you. As not-for-profits, credit unions return what they earn to their members in the forms of lower rates on loans, higher returns on savings and lower and/or fewer fees. But you might lose ALL of the benefits you enjoy at (NAME) Credit Union unless Congress hears loud and clear from members like you that you want us protected as part of federal tax reforms.
In fact, for every $1 of their tax exemption, credit unions return well over $10 to consumers in better rates and lower fees. That’s a solid investment in our communities.
Now, some (mostly banks) say credit unions should pay income taxes, even though it was banks (not credit unions) that took huge government bailouts.
The truth is, if credit unions were taxed – and remained not-for-profits – it’s unlikely their members could continue to receive lower rates on loans, higher savings return, and low fees.
You might say taxing credit unions is really a tax on 96 million credit union members.
