REHEARSAL SCHEDULE

Please see attached Schedule. Starting in January, we have a rehearsal every day. We also will have Saturday rehearsals leading up to the show. You only need to come to those rehearsals that you are in. There will be a call sheet posted at least one week ahead. If you need to stay after on a day you are not scheduled due to a ride situation, please let the director know at the beginning of the rehearsal.

COMMITTING TO PRODUCTION

In order to produce the best show possible, we need time commitment from every student that participates. All cast members are expected to be available for all rehearsals. Absences must have prior approval by Mr. Migdalis or Mrs. Campbell. If you are absent from school, please email Mrs. Campbell by 10 am. More than 3 excused absences or continuing unexcused absences may result in dismissal.

AUDITION FACTS

No matter what the outcome of your audition, you are a winner by choosing to go through the process. Artistic teams agonize over the process, knowing that not everyone can be cast and that someone’s feelings may be hurt. There are also many variables beyond your control that go into the casting process. You may feel you have given the audition of your life, but it may not be what the artistic team wants. You may not match up well with the other cast members, either physically or vocally. Not being cast does not necessarily reflect upon a child’s talent or ability. We want to encourage parents to talk about the audition process with your child. Your child deserves praise, whatever the outcome may be! Your attitude about these auditions and the outcome will be a key factor in determining whether or not this is a positive experience for your child.

AUDITIONS

Every person must do dancing, singing and acting auditions to be in the show. On your grade audition day, we will start with dancing, and then move on to singing/acting auditions where you will introduce yourself, say your favorite Dr. Seuss book, find your bottom and top note, sing the selection, and then perform a side of your choice. Bring comfortable clothes, water, snack, pencil, music & sides.

PREPARATION FOR AUDITIONS

Mrs. Campbell will run through the songs at PennTime in Room 46 on October 25th, November 1st, and November 10th. RehearScore on Google Classroom is available for download to a Mac or Windows. Mr. Migdalias is available to go over sides during PennTime November 3rd to November 9th.

CALLBACKS

Those that will be considered for a Lead Role will be invited to a callback. Callbacks are November 16th, 17th, and 20th. Callback information and material will be posted on the classroom according to the character for which being called back. The callback list will post at 3 pm Wednesday, November 15th. Select 7th graders will be notified of callbacks after their auditions on November 15th. Please note: if you are not on the callback list, that means you still may be in the show.

FULL CAST LIST

Full cast list will be posted in the classroom on Tuesday, November 21st at 6 pm. A hard copy will be posted outside on Theatre showcase. You will need to check this list and initial next to your name if you are accepting your role in the show. Our first rehearsal is Monday, November 27 from 3-5.

TECHNICAL OPPORTUNITIES:

If we are unable to cast you, we hope you will consider participating in behind-the-scenes activities. Crew applications will be available December 18th, Due January 5th.

Stage Crew: creates and runs the sets. Selected days from January 22-March 11

Tech Crew: runs sound and lights from the back of the house. Selected days from February 21-March 11

Hair/Make-up Crew: provides hair and make-up to cast. Selected days February 22- March 11

EXPECTATIONS

The artistic team is looking for enthusiastic, responsible and talented performers who enjoy hard work and expressing themselves through music, dance and layers of make-up. Seussical’s score is uplifting and the sets, lights, costumes, props, make-up and hair promise to be wildly imaginative. Take a tip from the cat and come out and audition, and remember:

“If you open your mind, oh, the thinks you will find lining up to get loose!

Oh, the thinks you can think, when you think about Seuss!”
