Description: Manage creative programs and provide multimedia design expertise, including photo and video, to support the mission of the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB). Conceive, design, execute, promote, and manage multiple projects ranging from high profile to everyday campaigns.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:

Serve as project manager to organize, prioritize and manager multiple projects with various deadlines

  • Ensure projects stay within or under budget
  • Meet print and /or program deadlines
  • Confirm all aspects of projects adhere to highest levels of quality vis strong attention to detail
  • Manage post-production follow up on activities and program

DESIGN:

Develop highly-creative materials that promote IGB research, activities, and programs.

  • Illustrate and create communication pieces for IGB, such as printed materials, promotional materials, and digital materials
  • Interact with various IGB audiences about its programs, including faculty, staff, community members, donors, and vendors
  • Manage all aspects of the IGB video production & post-production, including editing, graphics, animation, audio
  • Coordinate all aspects of the IGB photography for printed materials, website and social media, programs
  • Provide original content using existing and new materials in the form of stock photos, b-roll video, fonts, soundtracks, and patterns
  • Stay current with multimedia and visual trends, ides, and procedures and design programs to enhance projects and their goals.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, marketing or related field.

Experience:

Required: 3+ years’ experience in a design position with established portfolio in creative projects.

Preferred: 5+ years’ experience in a design position with established portfolio in creative projects. Experience with managing public-facing creative campaigns or exhibitions.

Knowledge Requirements:

Required: Established skill with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro video editing software, Soundbooth digital audio editor, Lightroom photo editor). Effective communication, personal relations, organizational, and team work skills. Attention to detail. Ability to effectively perform with a professional demeanor in a diverse and fast-paced work environment, consisting of multiple and changing priorities, under minimal supervision. Proficiency with commonly-employed software and databases.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is a 12-month, 100% time academic professional appointment with regular University benefits. The proposed starting date is negotiable after the close date.
