Sunday 25th April
Gymnastics Tumbling Clinic
Venue: Colchester School of Gymnastics, Colchester
Time: Registration 12-30pm. Finish 6-00pm
Cost: £15.00
The clinic will give coaches the opportunity to learn how to teach new tumbling techniques, ranging from basic skills through to more complex tumbling skills. In addition an opportunity to work with their gymnasts to progress their tumbling with the support of Charlie Burrows.

Monday 26th April
Vetting and Barring – the new legislation- impact for coaches, clubs and volunteers
Venue: Brentwood Town Hall
Time: Registration 6-30pm.

This workshop provides an explanation of the latest changes in relation to CRB checks and safeguarding practices under the new Vetting and Barring scheme. Find out what it means for you as a coach, or for your club and what you need to consider and do to adhere to and to prepare for the new systems

An interactive workshop with that will enable coaches to develop an understanding of the LTAD model and its components as well as an appreciation of how the LTAD model can benefit coaching practice. Coaches will gain an understanding of the importance of strength and conditioning in rugby and all other sports.
Suitable for club and sports coaches and volunteers.
The workshop is both theory and practical based and delegates will need to wear suitable clothing.

Mind Goals - Sports Psychology
Venue: University of Essex, Colchester

Explore the effect the mind has in controlling the body to give optimum sporting performance with Dr Murray Griffin. Delegates will learn and understand the psychological and mental factors that affect performance in sport and discover how to apply these to enhance individual and team performance.

Human Performance - Testing and monitoring athletes/players - how to put sports science theory into practice

A theory and practical based workshop with Tom Cudmore, the highly acclaimed manager of the University of Essex’s Human Performance Unit. This workshop will give an insight to the sports science support experienced by elite athletes and how this can be adapted to benefit all sports people. Participants will see a demonstration of maximal laboratory testing then have the opportunity to design and conduct exercise tests that can be delivered within their own sporting environment.

An interactive workshop with that will enable coaches to improve their knowledge as well as the performance of their athletes, by gaining an understanding of the latest coaching techniques and approaches to developing endurance athletes. As part of this workshop participants will get an opportunity to speak to a 2012 hopeful athlete and have Q+A time with Nick Anderson, GB endurance coach.

A practical and theory workshop with demonstrations from the Essex Pirates basketball players/ ASSE athletes, led by GB coach Tim Lewis and National League Coach, Sam Nicholson. The session will show coaches how to progress basic skills and coaching sessions to advanced and professional levels. It will include tips on how to develop young athletes and a Q+A opportunity for delegates on any basketball related topic.

The workshop facilitators will explain the funding streams, the application processes, deadlines for funding and provide tips on how to write successful applications.

Meet the Tutors
Nick Anderson is a UK elite level 4 coach and former GB 5K, 10K and X Country Coach. Coach to Andy Vernon, Keith Gerrard, John Beattie, Louise Damen, Tom Payn and Ben Moreau
Steve Bish is the Partnership Development Manager for Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership. Steve has worked in sports development for 10 years within NGBs / Sports College and SSP
Charlie Burrows is an International Tumbler. Senior World Championship Finalist 2007 and European Team Champion 2006. 2 Times British Senior Champion. Coached gymnasts in Women's Artistic and Tumbling up to National Squad level
Tom Cudmore is the manager of the University of Essex Human Performance Unit and has extensive experience delivering sports science to amateur and professional athletes from a vast range of sports. Tom has an MSc in Sports Science and is an accredited exercise physiologist with the British Association of Sports and Exercise Sciences
Leah Doyle is a Sports Rehabilitator with seven years experience of working with athletes, teams and coaches. Leah also has specific experience in managing chronic conditions and the psychological considerations relating to injury.
Dr Murray Griffin is a Lecturer in Sports & Exercise Science at the University of Essex. He is a Practitioner Psychologist whose qualifications include RMN, Bsc Hons, CPsychol, CSci and AFBPsS
Tim Lewis is a former USA professional player and the current Head Coach for the GB U20 team and Asst Coach for the GB Men’s 2012 team, Coach for the Essex ASSE programme and Head Coach for Essex Pirates.
Jim Messenger, Delivery Support Officer for sportessex. Jim coordinates the sport unlimited initiative for the county. Over the past 15 months, sport unlimited has provided over £300,000 towards projects to get more young people taking-up sport and engaging with community sports clubs. Jim has over 20 years experience in sports coaching and administration of community clubs, so understands the challenges that clubs and coaches face.
Sam Nicholson was selected as a British Council Rep by the Youth Sports Trust to coach in Thailand, a National League coach for 3 years and a high level player representing the SE England squad, Sam has extensive coaching experience with all levels of players
Meet the Tutors
Margaret Nolan is the Partnership Development Manager for Running Sport and a Running Sport Tutor.
Dave Record is a First Aider with over 50 years First Aid Experience and has been a trainer since 1972, holding the City and Guilds CG730 Further Education Teachers Certificate. Dave as trained for the Civil Service Occupational Health Service, St. John Ambulance Association and is the main First Aid Training provider for sportessex and Essex County Cricket Board.
Brenda Stannard is an Independent Safeguarding Consultant with many years experience in Local Authority Safeguarding in Education, and is a former Local Authority Designated Officer and Safeguarding Advisor in Education, advising schools and other agencies on matters relating to allegations, as well as providing training on child protection and safer recruitment to schools, governors and a range of agencies working with children and young people.
David Watts is an Independent Safeguarding Consultant and Director of Via Safeguarding Solutions Ltd. He is a former Safeguarding Children Board Manager with over 15 years experience in children's safeguarding and social care, and has delivered training on a range of safeguarding matters.
Kate Williams is the Fundraising and Performance Manager for sportessex and has worked for the organisation for three years. Kate has worked closely with clubs, local authorities and community groups to help increase their income and is a passionate advocate of helping increase investment into grassroots organisations.
Mark Williams has developed and coached the rugby squad at SEEVIC College for the past 5 years. He is a Sports Science Lecturer and currently a 1st Team player at Southend RUFC. Mark is also a qualified Strength and Conditioning Coach under the UKSCA.
Pete Williams is a Cricket Level 3 coach Tutor and Assessor and oversees the Cricket coach education program for Essex County Cricket Board.
