A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Stacie Janel Diamond.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Stacie Janel Diamond, and we pause in silent reverence for her soul.

WHEREAS, Stacie Janel Diamond was born on December 27, 1975, a native of Louisa, Lawrence County, Kentucky, and she traversed these earthly bounds on January 30, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Stacie Janel Diamond was the loving daughter of Mike and Gloria Kitchen Diamond; she was the loving sister of Janice Salyer of Louisa and Beverly Rutledge of Morehead; she was the adored granddaughter of her maternal grandparents William and Pauline Berry Kitchen of Louisa; and she was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Howard and Emily Jane Diamond; and

WHEREAS, Stacie Janel Diamond was a member of the Bradley Gap Freewill Baptist Church; she graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1994, and while in high school, she played basketball for the Lady Bulldogs, was a member of the National Honor Society, pep staff, journalism staff, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; she graduated from Morehead State University with a bachelor of arts degree in physical education, and she earned her master's degree in instructional leadership; and while at MSU, she was a member of Gamma Beta Phi, a resident advisor, and she was the recipient of the Outstanding Student Teacher in Physical Education award; and

WHEREAS, Stacie Janel Diamond began her teaching career at Owen County High School, where she served as the coach of the boy's freshman team, assistant coach of the boy's varsity basketball team, head track coach, and girls golf coach; and she was a member of the site-based decision-making council, as the assistant athletic director and class advisor, and she was also the advisor for the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and to further her career, she accepted the assistant principal's position at Henry County Middle School in the Fall of 2002; and

WHEREAS, Stacie Janel Diamond was an inspiration to all who had the good fortune of knowing her; she was a truly extraordinary person whose special gifts and talents endeared her to all; her inspiration came from her love of God, and she demonstrated a spiritual kind of humanity that was seen in her relationship with students; and

WHEREAS, a life spent worthily should be measured by deeds not years, and through her compassion, enthusiasm, and genuine love and concern for her fellow man, Stacie Janel Diamond is worthy of the highest commendation; and

WHEREAS, the premature passing of Stacie Janel Diamond has left a void that cannot be filled, and she is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the premature passing of Stacie Janel Diamond, and extends to her family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Stacie Janel Diamond.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit 10 copies of this Resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Mike Diamond, Route 4, P. O. Box 10860, Louisa, Kentucky 41230; and a copy to Ms. Beth Johnson, Principal, Owen County High School, 2340 Hwy. 22 East, Owenton, Kentucky 40359; and to Mr. Tim Abrams, Superintendent, Henry County Schools, 326 South Main Street, New Castle, Kentucky 40050.
