Attendance: / Julie Litmer-Schwaller, Kim de Leon, Cheryl Hine, Karen Ramsey Mielke, Thang Tran, Pam Michalec, Terry Coonan, Marvin Haugk, Sue DeChant, Jim Richardson, Jan Nichols, Vladimir Rynkov, Laurie Colchin, Taylor VenableBanner Lab PCs – How to Establish IE Defaults – Kim and Julie demoed and reported the need to activate IE settings on the lab PC’s. If these are not activated users cannot run jobs in Banner or Cognos Excel and .csv files.
Clean up of O drive – Julie reminded everyone to be sure to keep the O: drive cleaned up. Julie asked that everyone double check the files and delete any that are not needed. Marvin reported there has been discussion on buying inexpensive, slower speed storage space for long term storage. Julie asked everyone to report back to her when done checking and cleaning the files.
TRNG Data Refresh – Began as 1 PM Today - Karen reported the TRNG system is being refreshed. The image was taken from PROD around 10:00 this morning.
Wait Listing Status – Julie asked for Nancy about updates for schedule of classes. Terry was not sure of the status but did not think it was done.
PPRD Status – Data was restored in early March. The Edirectory has been a struggle. Taylor and Terry Dougherty are taking the lead and working on recreating electronic processes Bob M. previously did manually.
ODS Issues from Upgrade – Kim reported ODS appears to be running OK after reload this weekend. A check report is now running that can help verify the data is migrating to ODS as it should.
Banner Conference Debriefing (12 People attended Summit)
Jim – sessions on Oracle 11g and ODS streaming. He has a better understanding of streams and more information being made available from SunGard on a regular basis. Discovered databases have to be moved to 11g before other types. Password rules will be changing within 11g including mixed case. He also attended sessions on new Mobile apps and Banner identity services.
Karen – sessions on Horizons, Banner 8 security, disaster recovery, Banner 9, middle-ware tier for Mahmudur and INB forms. Horizon early releases scheduled to start at the end of the year.
Kim – sessions on BI organization, ODS and EDW changes, DegreeWorks algorithms and scribing, CAPP XML output code, new Student Retention and Performance piece using ODS and a piece of EDW.
Pam – sessions on managing AR with custom views instead of population selection. This would help with refunding, but no archives would be available, simplifying write offs, crossover terms and accounting, TouchNet and contracts.
Thang – sessions on Pell and aid year crossovers, algorithmic processing and algorithmic budgeting. Parents and students can now decline listing their income and assets on the FAFSA. Attended training on direct lending.
Taylor – sessions on Luminis and Luminis 5, overall Banner updates for familiarity, technical status of the portals, etc. Julie requested list of items that may not be available in Luminis 5 that are currently available in 4. No sessions from schools who moved from 4 to 5.
Vlad – sessions on Luminis, developing portlets, upgrade issues from 4 to 5, BEIS, and mobile apps.
Sue – sessions on Luminis and Luminis 5, project scopes, architecture, SSO, CASS, load and balance testing, PRAXIS tape loads, DegreeWorks for NCAA certification, course historical data to help determine future course needs.
Terry – sessions on Luminis, BEIS, mobile apps. Terry wants to take ownership of Luminis 5 project with help from steering committee. Excited about mobile apps and wants to move ahead on developing some of those for students.
Julie – sessions on security and functional classes and a student worker class, DegreeWorks sessions, and Signals.
