COURSE DESCRIPTION
OVERVIEW
This course is a continuation of algebraic and geometric concepts developed in Algebra I and Geometry. Students will review functions such as quadratic, linear, logarithmic, exponential and radical. Students will build on this foundation to expand their understanding through other mathematical experiences and assessing State objectives.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Course Materials:
Please come to class prepared. Class time is wasted if pencils and paper have to be found for every learner before each activity. Learners are expected to have the following items with them in class every day.
●Laptop
●Interactive Notebook
●Journal
●Pens,Pencils w/ erasers, markers, rulers
●Graphing Calculator (TI-84+; TI-Nspire )
Homework Policy:
Homework will be assigned at every class. It will be posted in Echo. You do not have to print out the homework sheets. They should be worked out in their journals. It must be completed and returned, the following class. Homework is extremely important as it helps students to reinforce what was taught in class and also to practice new concepts. Their success with each assignment is an indication of their mastery of that concept. Homework will be recorded and gone over at every class. Homework grade ( K &A grade) will be recorded every Friday. Mistakes on homework need to be corrected and returned the following class.
Absences:
Students are responsible in obtaining all missed work and completing it before the next class. Arrangements should be made with the teacher for make up tests or quizzes.
Please check Echo everyday for assignments and important dates regarding tests, project deadlines and summative.
Late Policy:
Students will be given one day for each day missed due to an excused absence to turn in missing work for full credit.
Major assignments submitted one day late will be awarded a maximum of 80% of the total points possible.
If a student misses a due date for a major assignment due to an unexcused absence, the work will be awarded a maximum of 60% of the total points possible.
Students may use a Mercy Pass( One per quarter) to turn in a homework assignment one day late (the next day the course meets) without penalty. Mercy Passes cannot be used for major assignments.
GRADING
Every assignment will be assessed on one or more of the following learning outcomes. Your overall grade as a learner will be determined by the percentages shown below.
Knowledge & Thinking40%
Agency15%
Written Communication15%
Oral Communication15%
Collaboration15%
Definitions and rubrics for learning outcomes can be found in Echo.
