1.4DEFINITIONS

1.5SUBMITTALS

1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE

  2. Installer Qualifications: Experienced Installer with minimum of 5 successful completed projects of similar materials and scope, approved by glass product manufacturer/fabricator.
  3. Safety Glazing Products: Comply with size, glazing type, location, and testing requirements of 16CFR1201 for Category I and II glazing products, and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.

Specifier: Guardian SatinDeco Create striking and distinctive environments that seem to glow from within using SatinDeco, our unique acid-etched glass. SatinDeco is manufactured using a proprietary acid-etching process where acid is applied to the glass surface. The result is a smooth, flat, satin-like decorative surface that disperses light and transforms transparent float glass to translucent glass.

Specifier: Guardian DecoCristalback painted glass is painted on one side with a colored organic paint. It then dries to a beautiful lacquer finish, resulting in a stunning finish. DecoCristal is available in three stocked colors as well as 8 special order colors.

Specifier: Shower enclosures made with Guardian ShowerGuard glass will maintain their like-new appearance for years to come because ShowerGuard surfaces are permanently sealed with a patented ion-beam process during manufacturing. This protection is actually part of the glass itself, allowing the glass to withstand some of the harshest water conditions and is proven to resists damage and aging from corrosion, hard water, and soap scum. Its protection derives from a patented ion beam process utilized during manufacturing. This technology permanently seals the glass surface, providing a shower enclosure that stays beautiful with a minimal amount of cleaning. ShowerGuard is ideally suited for clear, heavy-glass frameless enclosures. It is available in clear (6, 10, and 12 mm) and UltraClear glass (10 and 12 mm) and SatinDeco (10 and 12 mm)

2.3GLAZING ACCESSORIES

Specifier: Retain accessories below required for types of glazing installations required for project. Guardian recommends the specifier consult experienced local glazing installers for recommended practices.

  2. Glazing Gaskets, Wedges, Setting Blocks, Shims, and Tapes: Manufacturer's standard, as recommended for decorative glass type and application.

2.4HARDWARE FOR INTERIOR GLASS INSTALLATION

2.5FABRICATION OF GLAZING UNITS, GENERAL

  1. Fabricate decorative glass in dimensions required, with edge and face clearances, edge and surface conditions, and bite in accordance with decorative glazing manufacturer/fabricator’s instructions and referenced glazing publications.
  2. Edge Finishing: Fabricate decorative glazing finished edges to produce smooth edges without chips or scratches, polished, and warp-free. Provide finished edges of type(s) shown on Drawings.
  3. Machining: Drill, notch, and cutout decorative glazing as indicated. Make cutouts smooth and uniform.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

  1. Verify that glazing channels are clean and ready to accept glazing installation. Confirm that minimum required face and edge clearances will be maintained. Proceed with glazing once unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
  2. Examine glazing units prior to setting. Reject units that display edge or face damage that may impede performance of unit or that will be visible when installed.

3.2GLAZING INSTALLATION

  1. General: Install glass and glazing materials in accordance with instructions of manufacturer/fabricator and requirements of GANA Glazing Manual.
  2. Install setting blocks of size and in location required by glass manufacturer. Set blocks in bed of approved sealant.
  3. Provide spacers for glass lites as recommended, based upon size of glass unit.
  4. Comply with glass manufacturer’s limits on edge pressures.
  5. Provide edge blocking where recommended.
  6. Install sealants in accordance with requirements of Division 07 Section "Joint Sealants."
