A total of 17 boats took part, with the event being won overall by our Commodore Stan Barton. A BBQ was provided to sustain both the sailors and the spectators - thankyou to Freda, Rob and Caroline for organising. In total, we raised £313.29 - a special thanks to John Lever who raised £62 through work sponsorship

Fostbite racing series held during October has been well attended in some excellent weather conditions with mainly dry weather and temperatures well above normal for time of year. However winds have been unusually light except for one weekend when strong windsmeant sailing was cancelled.
Wednesday working party supervised by John Porter continues to carry out maintenance tasks. Please feel free to join in. The work is never ending, clubhouse cleaning, hedge trimming, litter picking etc. Start time 10-00am
Much of the work in recent weeks has been devoted to removing weed from the lake. Unlike many other lakes Eccleston Mere has escaped the problem of weed but it now seems to have caught up with usand has become a real problem.
Wednesday racing now takes place during the afternoon starting at 13-30 hrs with 2 or 3 short races. Some weeks have seen as many as 8 boats taking to the water.
Everyone welcome
Security – recently some internal doors have been left unlocked and some heaters left on. Will members who are some of the last to leave the premises please check and liase with others to ensure all doors are locked and heaters are off before departing.
Beginner’s Course 2018 applications are being received.Start date to be announced.
Dutyman rota for winter sailing is now available on the website enabling members to check their duties for the coming weeks.
Clubhouse mobile phone is now installed and located in the kitchen. The decision to provide a phone has been taken in response to concerns expressed by some members whose friends and relatives have not been able to contact them in times of emergency.
Despite most members having mobile phone they normally store them in a safe place when they go sailing and contacting them is difficult if not impossible. Provision of the mobile phone should enable messages to be conveyed by others able to answer the phone and act accordingly.
The intention is for the phone to be used for incoming calls only
