PGD FOR EMERGENCY HORMONAL CONTRACEPTION
Please find attached the NHS Lothian PGD for Emergency Hormonal Contraception. After discussion it has been decided to implement this PGD as it can be utilised by all designated healthcare professionals providing sexual health services, unscheduled care services and forensic medical services within NHS Lothian.
The full document must be read, agreed to and signed by all pharmacists involved in its use. Each pharmacist should complete and sign a copy of the “Authorised Practitioner List” document on page 2. Thereafter, this document should be posted back to Bob Taylor at Pentland House at the address above, or emailed to the NHS Lothian Community Pharmacy mailbox. For those pharmacists currently using the existing PGD, please return your completed Authorisation Practitioner document as soon as possible. For pharmacists who are new users, please sign and submit this document prior to using the PGD. To ensure we have an accurate record it is important that all information is recorded clearly and legibly on the form.

Can I start using the PGD straight away?
Yes, as soon as you have posted the authorisation page to Bob Taylor at the above address you can start using the PGD.
Can EHC be supplied on PGD to patients from outside Scotland?
A community pharmacist can provide PHS additional services to patients from other parts of the UK.
